DoorDash won't open, keeps crashing, or leaves you stuck at sign-in when you're ready to order. Start with the quick fixes below, then work through updates, app data, and reinstallation. Need to order now? Open DoorDash's website in your browser and sign in with your customer account.
Close DoorDash and open it again
Start here when DoorDash has stopped responding.
On an iPhone with Face ID, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause to open the app switcher.
On an iPhone with a Home button, double-click the Home button instead.
Swipe DoorDash's preview upward to close it.
On a Pixel, open Settings > Apps > See all apps > DoorDash. Other Android manufacturers use different labels.
Tap Force stop.
Confirm with OK.
On a Samsung Galaxy, tap the Recent button.
Tap Close all. This closes the other recent apps too.
Reopen DoorDash.
Retry the action that failed.
Test the connection if DoorDash keeps loading
A failed Wi-Fi connection leaves DoorDash unable to load even when the app opens.
Turn off Airplane Mode if it is enabled.
Turn Wi-Fi off.
Turn Wi-Fi back on.
Retry DoorDash.
If it still won't load, turn Wi-Fi off to try an available cellular connection. You need an active cellular data plan.
Retry DoorDash over cellular.
If DoorDash works on Wi-Fi but not cellular on your iPhone, enable Cellular Data under Settings > Cellular. Some regions label this menu Mobile Data.
Enable DoorDash in the app list on that screen.
On a Pixel, enable Mobile data for your SIM under Settings > Network & internet > SIMs.
On public Wi-Fi with a sign-in requirement, open the network's sign-in notification or a new browser page.
Complete the network's sign-in requirements.
If other internet services also fail, test your phone on another Wi-Fi network.
Test the original network from another device.
If the connection fails across devices, contact your internet provider or network administrator.
Install the latest DoorDash update
Check your phone's official app store for an available update.
- 1.On iPhone, open App Store > profile picture > App Updates. On Android, open Google Play Store > profile icon > Manage apps & device > Updates available > See details.
- 2.Find DoorDash and tap Update if offered. You can also use the official App Store listing, named DoorDash: Food, Grocery, More, or Google Play listing. The iPhone app requires iOS 18.0 or later; Google Play determines Android device compatibility.
- 3.Open DoorDash again and retry the action that failed.
Restart your phone
On iPhone, open Settings > General > Shut Down and drag the power-off slider. Wait 30 seconds. Hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.
On a Pixel 6 or later, hold Power and Volume Up for a few seconds, then tap Restart. On a Pixel 5a or earlier, hold Power for about 30 seconds or until the phone restarts.
On a Samsung Galaxy, swipe down from the top right to open the Quick panel. Tap the Power off icon, then tap Restart. Samsung's layout varies with software.
Launch DoorDash after your phone turns back on.
Clear Android cache before resetting app data
Android lets you remove DoorDash's temporary cache separately from its saved local data. Start with the cache.
On a Pixel, open Settings > Apps > See All Apps > DoorDash > Storage & cache.
Tap Clear cache.
On a Samsung Galaxy, open Settings > Apps > DoorDash > Storage. Samsung's labels vary by software version.
Tap Clear cache.
Retry DoorDash.
If it still fails on Pixel, return to DoorDash's Storage & cache screen.
Select Clear storage. This removes local app data and requires you to sign in again.
On Galaxy, select Clear data under DoorDash's Storage screen.
Confirm with Delete. This removes local settings and saved app data.
Reopen DoorDash.
Sign in again.
If clearing cache and data does not help, reinstall DoorDash using the next section. On iPhone, go straight to deletion and reinstallation; clearing Safari data affects the website, not the native DoorDash app.
Reinstall a fresh copy
On iPhone, hold DoorDash's icon and choose Remove App > Delete App > Delete. Selecting Remove from Home Screen alone does not uninstall it.
On Android, open Google Play Store > profile icon > Manage apps & devices > Manage > DoorDash. Select Uninstall.
Reinstall DoorDash from its official App Store or Google Play Store listing. Sign in with your customer account.
If DoorDash's iPhone icon has a cloud indicator, tap it to restore the offloaded app; its documents and data are retained. If DoorDash was archived on Android, tap its faded icon to reinstall it. Restoring an offloaded or archived app is not a complete data reset.
Recover access when sign-in fails
An expired or older verification code blocks you from completing verification.
Select Resend Code.
For an emailed code, allow two minutes for delivery.
Check your email's Spam, Trash, and Junk folders if it has not arrived.
Enter the newest six-digit code. DoorDash verification codes expire after 30 minutes.
If the verification screen offers another delivery channel, choose email instead of SMS, or SMS instead of email. Initial phone-number verification uses SMS only.
After five unsuccessful verification attempts, wait 30 minutes before trying again.
For a forgotten password, open DoorDash's password reset page.
Enter your account email.
Select Reset Password.
Open the emailed reset link.
Create your replacement password.
If verification still fails, contact DoorDash Support from the phone whose number is associated with your account.
Use the website and get help with persistent failures
Open doordash.com in a browser. It gives you another way to order while the native app is failing.
Sign in with your customer account.
If the website also fails, completely quit your browser.
Reopen the browser.
Visit DoorDash again.
If it still fails, try another installed browser. DoorDash names Chrome and Firefox as alternatives.
For an existing order, open Orders > current order > Help in the app.
Select Chat with Support when order adjustments are unavailable.
If these methods fail, use Chat with Us in the DoorDash App or call DoorDash's US customer support number, 855-431-0459. Calling works even when the app cannot open. Ask support about account or service problems; reinstalling cannot resolve a DoorDash outage.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I correct the delivery address before ordering?
On iPhone, open the account icon > Addresses. Choose a saved address, or search for a new address and then select Save Address. On Android, open Account > Addresses. Select a saved address, or search for a new address and then tap Save.
What if DoorDash opens but my payment fails?
Add another payment method. On iPhone, open the account icon > Payment under Account Settings > Add Payment Method > Credit/Debit Card. Enter the card details and tap Save. On Android, open the account icon > Payment Methods > Add Payment Method > Credit/Debit Card. Enter the details and tap Add Card. Select the new card for payment.
Why am I not receiving order updates?
Open the account icon > Notifications in DoorDash and enable Order Updates Push or Order Updates SMS. For push alerts on iPhone, enable Settings > Notifications > DoorDash > Allow Notifications. On Google's Android interface, open Settings > Notifications > App notifications, select DoorDash, and enable notifications. Use All apps if needed to find it; other manufacturers' paths differ.
Do I need to factory-reset my phone for DoorDash?
A factory reset is a last resort for unresolved problems affecting the whole device. It erases local apps and data and requires a backup first. If only DoorDash is failing, finish the app troubleshooting and contact DoorDash Support.
