To fix Epic Games security codes not arriving, check your spam folder and blocked senders, confirm which authentication method Epic is using, then request a fresh code. If delivery still fails, use an already configured authenticator, a saved backup code, or account recovery.

Start with the destination shown by the sign-in prompt. Email, SMS, and authenticator requests need different checks, and changing account settings may require you to sign in first.

The short version

  • Email checks: Wait several minutes, search your mailbox, and check spam and filtering rules.
  • Delivery method: Check the registered phone or enrolled authenticator when Epic is using that method.
  • Another way in: Use an existing authentication method or a saved backup code when delivery fails.
  • Lost access: Start account recovery if you cannot access the registered email or complete authentication.

Check the delivery method and registered inbox

Give an email code several minutes to arrive, then refresh your inbox and search your mailbox for Epic messages. Check spam, promotions, and any folders where your mail rules move incoming messages.

Confirm that you are checking the email address registered to your Epic account, including the spelling of its domain. Free mailbox storage if the inbox is full. Epic also advises against role-based addresses such as webmaster@ or postmaster@.

An email is not necessarily expected when your account uses another authentication method. If you already have account access, open Account > Password and security > Two-Factor Authentication to inspect your methods. Check the enrolled phone or authenticator when that is the selected method.

A working connected-account login can help you identify the registered inbox. Open Account settings > Account information and inspect the masked email, or use Search for your account email if you are still unsure. Preserve an existing signed-in session by opening that search flow in a private window; connected-account sign-in does not guarantee that you can skip Epic verification.

Unblock Epic messages in your email service

Review your email service's blocked-sender and spam settings for support.epicgames.com, accts.epicgames.com, and acct-auth.epicgames.com. Remove blocks affecting those domains and mark legitimate Epic messages as wanted mail. Epic specifically recommends allowing messages from support.epicgames.com.

In Gmail in a browser, open Settings > See all settings > Filters and Blocked Addresses. Edit or delete rules that discard or archive Epic messages, and remove relevant sender blocks. Review forwarding and connected mail clients for automatic deletion, retain Gmail's inbox copy when forwarding, and remove unfamiliar connected services.

For an Epic message caught in Gmail's spam folder, open More > Spam, select the legitimate message, and choose Not spam. To create a sender filter, open Show search options, enter the sender address in From, then choose Create filter. Select Never send it to Spam and finish with Create filter. Adding the legitimate sender to Google Contacts is another option.

In new Outlook or Outlook on the web, open Settings > Mail > Junk email and remove Epic addresses or domains from the blocked list. New Outlook does not support sender blocking for third-party accounts such as Gmail, Yahoo, or iCloud, so review blocked senders and spam settings for those accounts with that email provider. Check Junk Email for messages already diverted there. These steps apply to Outlook.com as well.

Classic Outlook uses Home > Block > Junk E-mail Options. Select the Epic entry under Blocked Senders and choose Remove. Under Safe Senders, choose Add, enter support.epicgames.com, and confirm. For Exchange-hosted mail, ask your administrator to investigate if these changes do not help.

If messages still do not arrive, contact your email provider and ask whether it is blocking [email protected]. Supply the affected email address and approximate times you requested the messages.

Request a fresh code and pause repeated attempts

When a delayed code arrives but has expired, wait 30 seconds and select Resend code. Enter the code from the newest message promptly.

A rate-limit or excessive-frequency error needs a longer pause. Stop sign-in attempts for several minutes, and if the error persists, wait 24 hours before trying again. Epic Support cannot speed up that automatic reset.

Check Epic Games Public Status for an active authentication or account-service incident when the failure continues. If an incident matches your problem, follow its updates and retry after resolution.

Check SMS filtering and regional availability

For a missing text on iPhone, open Messages, select the Filter button, and open Unknown Senders. Open a legitimate Epic message and choose Mark as Known. For verification alerts, open Filter > Manage Filtering > Allow Notifications and enable the relevant category; categories vary by region.

In Google Messages, select your profile photo or icon, then open More options > Spam and blocked. Select the legitimate Epic conversation and tap Unblock. Continue with reception checks if ordinary texts also fail.

On Android, check cellular signal, SIM placement, carrier SMS support, and your plan balance when other incoming messages are missing too. Turn off Airplane mode, and free device storage if Messages reports insufficient space. These checks cannot restore Epic SMS in regions where it is unsupported.

Epic has retired SMS authentication in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Mexico, Azerbaijan, Senegal, the Republic of Niger, and Russia. Epic says affected accounts default to email if you have not chosen another method. Check your registered inbox or use an enrolled authenticator.

In Türkiye, Epic identifies SMS delivery problems as an issue under investigation. Use alternate email verification or a saved backup code while it continues. If you are setting up authentication, choose another method.

Use another authentication method

If you cannot access SMS or your authenticator but can open the registered inbox, select Try another way > Email Verification at the authentication prompt. Retrieve the email and enter its code. Email verification still depends on resolving any mailbox delivery problem.

A previously saved backup code provides another route. Select Try another way > Enter your Two-Factor verification backup codes, then enter a saved eight-digit code. You must already have retained that code; this option does not generate one while you are locked out.

For an enrolled third-party authenticator, open the app, find your Epic account entry, and use its current code. Choose the authenticator option when offered another method at sign-in. Installing an authenticator app alone does not restore access to an account that was never enrolled in it.

If you already use Epic Authenticator, open the Epic Games app or Epic Games Store app and approve the sign-in by selecting the matching number. If an iPhone alert is missing, open Settings > Notifications, select the installed Epic app, and enable Allow Notifications. Choose Immediate Delivery if notification scheduling is available. These settings address authentication alerts, not email delivery.

Handle codes that arrive but do not work

For a code-not-found error despite entering the correct code, try another device first. Otherwise, use another browser or a private window. For that error in the Epic Games Store mobile app on Android, Epic also recommends deleting the app and reinstalling it from its official Android download page.

When Epic displays a cookie-related sign-in error, refresh the page and permit required cookies. Temporarily disable interfering privacy or ad-blocking extensions, then retry in another browser or window if needed. These steps address the browser session rather than missing email or SMS delivery.

For a rejected time-based authenticator code, wait for the app to display a fresh code and try again. If it still fails, enable automatic date and time on the device generating the code. Google Authenticator removed its old in-app time-correction setting in version 7.0, so correct the device clock instead.

On Android, open Clock > More > Settings > Change date and time > Automatic date and time. Enable automatic time-zone selection where supported. Your phone manufacturer's labels may differ.

On iPhone or iPad, connect to the internet and open Settings > General > Date & Time. Enable Set Time Automatically, which older versions may call Set Automatically. If the control is unavailable, check whether Screen Time or a managed-device profile restricts it.

Recover access when your usual routes fail

Use account recovery when you cannot access the registered email or complete the available authentication checks. On Epic's Sign in page, select Trouble signing in?, enter the account email, and choose Continue. Complete the authentication checks you can access.

Use Lost access to authentication methods? or Lost access to this email address? as appropriate when those checks are unavailable. If no account is found, select Recover account. Supply the ownership information requested during recovery.

Changing your email or removing two-factor authentication can require the same verification you currently cannot complete. Restore access through an alternate method or recovery before changing those settings.

Replace an unreliable method after signing in

Once you regain access, open Account > Password and security > Two-Factor Authentication. Choose Set up beside another method and complete verification. With multiple methods configured, open the preferred method's three-dot menu and select Make my primary 2FA method.

To replace an obsolete SMS number, open Password and security and use the SMS three-dot menu > Remove Method > Remove. Choose Set Up, enter the new number, and select Continue. Enter the received code and choose Enable SMS Authentication; the replacement number must be eligible for Epic SMS.

If your inbox remains unreliable, open Account settings > Account Settings and choose Edit beside the email. Enter an unused address and select Continue. Enter the security code sent to the old inbox, continue, then open the message in the new inbox and select VERIFY YOUR EMAIL.

Epic limits email changes to once every 90 days. If you cannot access the old inbox, use account recovery instead of attempting that change. Before removing a malfunctioning authentication method, establish a working alternative, then return to Two-Factor Authentication and select the unwanted method's three-dot menu > Remove Method > Remove.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you resend the initial email verification message?

Open your Epic account page and find the yellow unverified-email notice. Select “click here to resend,” then open the resulting email and choose “VERIFY YOUR EMAIL.” This verifies the email address and is separate from a sign-in two-factor code.

Why is a console verification code not arriving?

The prompt may belong to your PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo account. Check the email, phone, or authenticator associated with that platform account. Contact the platform's support if it is requesting the code.

Can a Cabined Account use SMS authentication?

If your Cabined Account is awaiting parental permission, SMS authentication is restricted. Use email or an authenticator, or have your parent complete the account-setup email before updating the authentication method. To resend the consent request, follow Request Parental Permission in the account portal. Regional SMS restrictions still apply after parental permission.

What should you do when setting up two-factor authentication gives an internal-service error?

Retry setup in a private window, another browser, or another device, and disconnect hosting or VPN services during setup. If one authentication method fails, try enrolling another. These steps address an enrollment error rather than general missing email delivery.

Why can you receive a code but not enter it in the Epic Games Launcher?

If you use Japanese keyboard input, you may encounter the code-entry problem Epic describes. Change the keyboard input language or copy and paste the received code into the launcher.

What can your work or school email administrator check?

Ask your administrator to trace the message and check quarantine. For Google Workspace, an administrator with the Gmail Settings privilege can open Google Admin console > Reporting > Email Log Search, select the request's date range, search the recipient or sender, and inspect delivery status. If the message never reached Google, escalate the issue to Epic.

How do you get more help from Epic?

Open Epic Games Support, select Epic Support Assistant, and describe the delivery problem. Follow the offered troubleshooting or escalation flow; human chat availability varies by language. If you cannot authenticate, use account recovery.
