In the desktop or mobile Canva editor, select the item you want people to click. You can attach a link to text, an image, another element, or a video. To link only particular words, highlight those words inside the text box.

Choose More > Link on the floating toolbar, then enter the destination URL. Press Enter or select elsewhere in the editor to finish adding it.

For a destination within the same multipage design, select the source element and choose More > Link. Open Pages in this document, then select the page you want that element to open. This path works on desktop and mobile.

To link to a different Canva design, select your source element and open More > Link. Choose the destination design under Recent. Make sure the people receiving your design have access to that destination.

To prepare a destination link with the intended access, open the destination design and select Share. Under Access level, choose the intended audience, such as Anyone with the link, then choose view permission and select Copy link. Paste that copied URL into the source design’s link field.

In Canva Docs, highlight the text you want to turn into a link. Select Link on the floating toolbar, then enter the destination URL. These steps work on desktop and mobile.

In Canva Sheets on desktop or mobile, select text inside the cell rather than the whole cell. Choose Link on the floating toolbar and enter the URL. If you have selected the whole cell, select the text inside it before continuing.

Once your design’s links are ready, select Share > Download. Under File type, choose PDF, then under Presets, select Digital. Leave Flatten PDF unchecked and select Download.

For a Canva presentation, select Share > Present after adding your links, then choose a presentation mode. Links attached to videos require Presenter View. Activate those video links in the Presenter window.

To correct an existing text link, select the linked text and choose Edit link. Change Enter a link or search to update its destination; you can also change Text or Display mode as needed. Select Done to finish.

Removing a hyperlink removes the element’s link to its destination. To remove it, select the element, choose Edit link, and select the trash icon.

If a recipient cannot open a linked Canva design, check the destination’s access permissions. Open that design’s Share controls and choose the intended audience under Access level. The destination’s permissions still apply when you link to it from another design.

Flattened PDFs do not preserve working Canva hyperlinks. If you downloaded a flattened PDF, export the design again using PDF and the Digital preset, with Flatten PDF unchecked.

To connect pages in a Canva website on desktop or mobile, select the text or element that should act as the link. Select the link icon; if it is hidden, select the more icon first. Under Pages in this document, choose the destination website page and select Done. Use Preview to inspect the website before publishing.

For a navigation menu, open your website design and select Publish website > Settings. Turn on Navigation menu, then select the menu in the design. Choose Edit > Items > Add link and enter the destination and link text. Publish the website to apply the changes. If your website is already published with the previous menu, select the dropdown next to Publish, then Settings, turn Navigation menu off and on again to get the new customizable menu, then edit it in the design and publish again.

Create a clickable button in Canva Email

In a Canva Email design on desktop or mobile, select Elements > Buttons. You can also select the plus icon, then Button. Enter the button name and destination URL, select Done, and adjust its appearance with the toolbar.

To transfer the email to a platform that accepts raw HTML, select Share > Copy HTML. After Canva generates the HTML, select Copy to clipboard and paste the result into your email platform’s HTML editor. Preview the email and test its links before sending.

You can also select Share > Download, choose HTML and images under File type, and select Download. On desktop, extract the downloaded ZIP before opening the HTML file. Check the links, then import the files into your email platform.

Embed supported media in your design

To embed supported media in the desktop or mobile editor, select Apps in the side panel. Search for Embeds, choose the appropriate media app, and paste the media URL. Select Add to design to insert it.

An embed places supported media in your design. To make existing text or an image open a destination instead, select that item and use More > Link.
