Google Vids now uses Omni 1.2 Flash, with users able to generate up to three 15-second videos each month at no cost starting today. Anyone with a Google account or Google Workspace subscription qualifies for the free allowance in Google's video creation and editing tool.
Google says users can upload reference images to guide video generation, including pictures from trips, school projects or learning materials. The company claims those references help keep characters and scenes consistent throughout a clip. It also says the model improves spoken narration, with suggested uses ranging from social videos to explanations of concepts and teasers.

For promotional work, Google says Vids can generate a product promo as a continuous shot, without requiring cuts. The free offer has a monthly ceiling of three generated videos, with each clip lasting 15 seconds.
The Vids update follows Google's wider rollout earlier today of Gemini Omni 1.2 Flash through the Gemini API and Gemini for business, where the maximum video length increased from Omni 1.1's 10 seconds to 15 seconds. Vids previously received a separate narration upgrade through Gemini 3.8 Flash Lite TTS, which Google said improved speech pacing and emphasis for voiceovers and avatar narration.
