An Apple TV subscription can start on one device and bill through a completely different company. That is why the cancel button is easy to miss. Here are the current paths that stop billing, change the plan, handle refunds, and lock down future purchases.
1. Check Who Bills Your Apple TV Subscription
Start here before tapping around every device you own. The company that bills the subscription controls where you cancel it.
If Apple bills the subscription, use tv.apple.com, Settings on iPhone or iPad, App Store on Mac, the Apple TV app, or account.apple.com. If Google Play bills the subscription, use the Apple TV app on Android or the subscriptions page on play.google.com.
If Amazon bills the subscription, use Prime Video Account & Settings. If the biller is a Carrier, bundle, promotion, or another provider, contact that provider for support.
Deleting the Apple TV app does not cancel billing. Resetting the Apple TV app on a smart TV, streaming device, console, cable box, or satellite device only removes app data.
2. Cancel Apple TV on the Web
Go to tv.apple.com and select Sign In. Choose the account icon, then open Settings. Go to Subscriptions and select Manage. Choose Cancel Subscription.
If Apple bills the subscription, the web path is the quickest place to start. If tv.apple.com does not show the cancellation option, use account.apple.com and follow the onscreen instructions after signing in with your Apple Account.
3. Use iPhone iPad Vision Pro or Apple TV 4K
On iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro, use the Apple Account subscription screen. Open Settings, tap your name, and choose Subscriptions. Select the subscription, then tap Cancel Subscription.
On iPhone, you can also open Apple TV and go to Home. Tap your picture or initials. Then open Subscriptions or your name > Subscriptions.
On iPad, open Apple TV and tap the Sidebar button. Select your picture or initials. After that, open Subscriptions or your name > Subscriptions.
On Apple TV 4K, go to Settings > Profiles and Accounts > profile > Subscriptions > subscription, then follow the onscreen instructions to change or cancel.
4. Manage Apple TV on Mac or Windows
Mac and Windows both have current Apple paths for Apple-billed subscriptions. Pick the app you actually use on that computer.
For Mac App Store, open App Store. Select your name or Sign In, then choose Account Settings. Go to Subscriptions and select the subscription. Then choose Cancel Subscription.
For Apple TV app on Mac, open Apple TV. Choose Account > Account Settings, then find Manage next to Subscriptions. From there, change or cancel the subscription.
For Apple TV app on Windows, open Apple TV. Select your name at the bottom of the sidebar and choose View My Account. Find Manage next to Subscriptions, choose Edit, and follow the prompts. Then select Done.
For Apple Music app on Windows, open Apple Music. Select your name and choose View My Account. Go to Manage next to Subscriptions and choose Edit. Then select Cancel Subscription.
5. Cancel Through Google Play Amazon or Your Provider
If Apple does not bill the subscription, Apple does not provide the cancellation button. Use the billing company instead.
For Google Play billing in the Android Apple TV app, tap the account icon. Choose Account Settings and select Manage Subscriptions. Then finish the cancellation in the Google Play Store.
For Google Play on the web, open the subscriptions page on play.google.com. Choose the subscription, select Manage, and choose Cancel subscription. Pick a reason. Then select Continue.
For Amazon billing, go to Prime Video Account & Settings > Subscriptions. Find the Apple TV add-on subscription. Choose Unsubscribe (shown as Withdraw in some cases). Then confirm.
For a carrier, bundle, promotion, or other provider, contact that provider and ask them to cancel the Apple TV subscription tied to your account.
6. Change Renew Share or Get Receipts
The Apple subscription screen handles more than cancellation. On iPhone or iPad, go to Settings > your name > Subscriptions. On that screen, you can turn on Share with Family or turn on Renewal Receipt Emails.
Tap the active Apple TV subscription to choose Cancel Subscription, choose Cancel All Services, or pick a different subscription option. If the subscription has expired, tap it and choose the renewal option shown onscreen.
Eligible Apple TV, Apple TV channels, and Apple One subscriptions can be shared with up to five family members. To stop sharing, cancel the subscription, leave Family Sharing, remove a family member, or stop using Family Sharing if you are the organizer.
7. Request a Refund for an Apple TV Charge
Go to reportaproblem.apple.com and sign in. Open I’d like to and choose Request a refund. Select a reason and choose Next. Select the subscription or item, then choose Submit.
A refund request does not cancel the subscription. Submit the refund request, then cancel the subscription through the billing path that applies to your account.
8. Block Accidental Apple TV Purchases
On iPhone or iPad, use Screen Time to block in-app purchases. If Screen Time is not already on, turn it on first in Settings > Screen Time.
Open Settings and tap Screen Time. Choose Content & Privacy Restrictions and turn on Content & Privacy Restrictions. Open iTunes & App Store Purchases, choose In-app Purchases, and select Don’t Allow. That same area can require a password for future purchases.
For a child in Family Sharing, open the Ask to Buy message, choose Approve or Decline, and sign in to your Apple Account when approving.
On Apple TV 4K, press and hold the TV button on the remote and use the Restrictions button, or go to Settings > General > Restrictions.
On the Apple TV app for a smart TV, streaming device, or game console, open the sidebar, go to Settings > Restrictions, and set the restrictions you want.
