You signed up for a premium channel inside Prime Video, maybe a movie network or a sports add-on, and now you want it gone before the next charge lands. Or you are looking at your standalone Prime Video membership and want to end it entirely. Either way, you want the fastest route and the exact taps, not a runaround.

Here is the part that trips most people up: the place you cancel depends on where you signed up. Add-on channels you subscribed to directly through Amazon are handled on the Prime Video website, not in the mobile app. Channels you added through Apple, Google Play, or a mobile or cable provider must be canceled with that provider instead.

The methods below are ordered quickest and most common first. Find the one that matches how you subscribed, follow the steps, and you are done. After canceling, you keep access until the period you already paid for ends.

Cancel an Add-On Channel from Your Subscriptions (Web Browser)

This is the canonical method for add-on channels you bought directly through Amazon Prime Video. It is done in a web browser on a computer or mobile device; the Prime Video mobile app does not offer channel cancellation.

  1. 1.Go to Prime Video and open Account & Settings.
  2. 2.Select Your subscriptions from the top menu.
  3. 3.Find the add-on subscription that you want to cancel.
  4. 4.Select Unsubscribe and confirm your choice.

The confirmation screen shows a subscription end date. You keep access to that channel's content until that date, then access and charges stop. If you change your mind, you can reverse the cancellation any time until that end date.

Try the Channels Section if the Labels Differ

Depending on your region and the current interface, the same flow may appear under a Channels section with slightly different labels. If you do not see "Your subscriptions," open Account & Settings on the Prime Video website, look for the Channels area, find the channel you want to cancel, and select the cancel control, then confirm.

If a self-service refund message appears during cancellation, you have the chance to cancel the add-on immediately. If that message does not appear, cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle.

Manage Subscriptions from Your Amazon Account

If you would rather see your Amazon subscriptions in one place, you can manage them from your central Amazon account rather than from Prime Video. Your Amazon account groups subscriptions such as Prime, Prime Video channels, and other Amazon subscriptions together.

  1. 1.Sign in to your Amazon account.
  2. 2.Open your memberships and subscriptions area.
  3. 3.Locate the Prime Video channel or add-on subscription in the list.
  4. 4.Use the management or cancel control for that subscription.

One caveat: any subscriptions you signed up for through Google Play or the App Store will redirect you to manage them on those platforms instead.

Cancel a Channel from Your TV or Streaming Device

If you added a channel from a smart TV or streaming device and prefer to stay there, the Prime Video app on connected devices can manage channel subscriptions. Open Settings in the Prime Video app on your TV, then look for the channel subscriptions area to view and cancel your channel subscriptions. Exact wording can vary by device.

End a Standalone Prime Video Membership

The steps above handle add-on channels. Ending your actual Prime Video membership is a separate action, and which button you use depends on whether the membership is standalone or bundled with Amazon Prime.

  1. 1.Go to Account & Settings on Prime Video.
  2. 2.Select the Your Account tab.
  3. 3.Click End Subscription for a standalone Prime Video membership.

If your Prime Video is bundled with Amazon Prime, you will not use "End Subscription." Instead, select Edit on Amazon under the Prime Membership section. Note that any additional subscriptions tied to your Amazon Prime or Prime Video membership do not renew once that membership ends. If your subscription was created through a third party such as a mobile service provider, contact them for assistance.

Cancel a Channel Billed Through Apple (iPhone or iPad)

If you added a Prime Video channel through the App Store, Amazon cannot cancel it. You manage it in Apple's settings, and timing matters here.

  1. 1.Open the Settings app and tap your name at the top.
  2. 2.Tap Subscriptions.
  3. 3.Tap the Prime Video channel or add-on subscription.
  4. 4.Tap Cancel Subscription. You may need to scroll to find the button.

If there is no Cancel button, or you see an expiration message in red text, the subscription is already canceled. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal or trial end date, or you may still be charged.

Cancel an Apple-Billed Channel on a Mac

On a Mac, the same Apple-billed channels are managed through the App Store app rather than Prime Video.

  1. 1.Open the App Store app and click your name (or Sign In).
  2. 2.Click Account Settings.
  3. 3.Scroll to Subscriptions and click Manage.
  4. 4.Click the subscription, then click Cancel Subscription.

Fix a Failed Payment Instead of Losing the Channel

Sometimes a channel appears interrupted because of a payment problem, not a cancellation. Payment-failure error codes such as 2016, 2021, 2023, 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029, 2040, 2041, 2043, 2044, 2047, 2048, 2063, and 7035 can stop an add-on. To resolve it:

  • For subscriptions, go to Account & Settings on the Prime Video website and update your payment information; verify the card number, expiration date, and 3-digit security code.
  • For one-off purchases or rentals, use the Update Your Payment Method workflow.
  • On iOS or tvOS, make sure the payment details you provided Apple under your iTunes & App Store settings are up to date.
  • You may be prompted on the Prime Video website or apps to verify your card with your bank.
  • Confirm the payment method supports e-commerce transactions and has sufficient funds, or use an alternative payment method; contact your card-issuing bank if it still fails.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will I get a refund when I cancel a channel?
No. Canceling a subscription does not generate a refund for any previous subscription charges. You keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.

Why can't I cancel my channel in the Prime Video app?
You cancel Prime Video paid additional channels through the Amazon website using a web browser on a computer or mobile device; the Prime Video mobile app does not offer channel cancellation. Channels billed through Apple, Google Play, or a provider must be canceled with that provider.

I changed my mind. Can I undo a cancellation?
Yes. You can reverse your cancellation any time until the subscription end date shown on the confirmation screen. After that date, access and charges stop.

Does canceling a free trial stop me from being charged?
Yes. Most Prime Video add-on subscriptions come with a free trial where applicable, and canceling during the trial stops it from converting to a paid subscription. If the channel is billed through Apple, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends to avoid a charge.

Why can't I watch my add-on channels while traveling?
Prime Video add-on subscriptions are only available to stream from within your home country. Abroad, you can stream previously purchased or rented titles plus a reduced selection of general Prime Video content. EU residents traveling within the EU keep access to the same titles.

What happens to my add-ons if I cancel Amazon Prime entirely?
Any additional subscriptions tied to your Amazon Prime or Prime Video membership do not renew once that membership ends, so your channel add-ons will stop along with it.
