Here’s how to change the Theme in Google Play Store on Android.
Accessing Theme Settings
Follow these simple steps to change your Google Play Store theme:
- 1.Open the Google Play Store app on your Android device
- 2.Tap your profile picture or avatar in the top-right corner of the screen
- 3.Select Settings from the menu

- 1.Tap General in the settings menu
- 2.Select Theme to view your options

Choosing Your Theme
You'll see three theme options:
- Light - The traditional bright interface
- Dark - Dark background with light text for reduced eye strain
- System default - Follows your device's system-wide theme setting

Simply tap your preferred theme and the change takes effect immediately. The Play Store will remember your choice until you decide to switch again.
System-Wide Theming
If you're running Android 10 or later, you can enable dark mode for your entire system, which will automatically apply to the Play Store when you choose "System default." This gives you consistent theming across all compatible apps.
Recent Android updates are making theming more comprehensive. Android 16 QPR2 introduces expanded dark mode that can automatically invert app interfaces, and Google now requires all apps distributed through the Play Store to support system theming for a more unified experience.
You can switch between themes anytime by following the same steps. The process is quick and doesn't require restarting the app or your device.
