Grand Theft Auto VI pre-downloads are scheduled to begin next Tuesday, November 10, at midnight in each player’s local time, ahead of its November 19 launch on PlayStation 5. Sony says players should make at least 212GB available on their PS5 before downloading. Access to the advance download is for players who pre-order the game.
Players can place their orders through PlayStation Store or retailers taking part in pre-orders, according to Sony. The schedule puts the start of pre-downloads nine days before release, while Sony identifies November 19 as the date players can begin playing. Sony says downloading ahead of release will let players begin when the game becomes available.
Sony also promotes Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition, with preorder extras that include vehicles and weapons, plus apparel and action connected to the story involving Jason and Lucia. It directs buyers to the game’s PlayStation Store page to compare editions and check their prices, without supplying a price itself. The Ultimate Edition extras are described by Sony as exclusive.
Before launch, Sony advises existing players to check that their account information is current and that they have the correct details to sign in. Players new to PlayStation are told to set up an account and use it to sign in on their console. Sony also points PS5 owners toward expanding their console’s storage as another preparation option ahead of release.
The November 19 release already figured in Microsoft’s decision to move Fable from fall 2026 to February 2027. Microsoft cited competition from Grand Theft Auto VI alongside its own crowded release schedule when postponing Playground Games’ reboot.
Separately, Sony’s PlayStation Store Black Friday promotion is scheduled to start Wednesday, November 4, and continue through November 30. The sale promises discounts of up to 75% across thousands of games, expansions and DLC for PS5, PS4 and PS VR2. Sony plans to reveal the complete selection and individual discounts on PlayStation Store when the promotion begins.
