Turtle Beach Stealth Pro II Review, a Gaming Headset With Swappable Batteries and Big Bass
The Turtle Beach Stealth Pro II pairs two swappable 40-hour batteries and a charging dock with a premium aluminum build, big bass, Superhuman Hearing, noise cancelling and simultaneous wireless and…
Pop the magnetic cover off the left earcup, slide out the drained battery, drop in the fresh one from the charging dock, and you're back in the game. That small routine is the heart of the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro II, and it's the reason battery life has stopped being something I think about. It's one of several things this headset gets right for gamers, along with a premium aluminum build, a sharp gaming-focused feature set, and the ability to hear my console and my phone at the same time.

It isn't perfect for everyone. The sound is very good, the active noise cancelling is good rather than class-leading, and while it's comfortable for long gaming sessions, it's a big headset that you'll notice if you wear it around the house or out for a walk. For the gamer it's built for, though, it's an easy one to recommend.
The white Stealth Pro II, with brushed aluminum earcup plates and a mesh-lined headband.
The Stealth Pro II is Turtle Beach's flagship wireless gaming headset. It uses 60mm Eclipse dual drivers with separate woofers and tweeters, adjustable active noise cancellation, Dolby Atmos spatial audio, and Turtle Beach's Advanced Superhuman Hearing. Two swappable 40-hour batteries and a charging dock keep it running, and its CrossPlay 2.0 USB transmitter works alongside Bluetooth 5.3 so you can listen to two devices at once. The unit I tested is the white Xbox version, which also works with PlayStation, PC and Bluetooth phones. It sells for $349.99 at Turtle Beach and on Amazon.

Who it's for
Gamers who play long sessions and hate stopping to charge, players who switch between an Xbox, a PC and a phone, and anyone who wants a headset that looks and feels as premium as the rest of their setup. Competitive players will get real value from Superhuman Hearing, and anyone who games in a noisy home will appreciate the noise cancelling and the detachable mic.

You want one pair of headphones for everything, from gaming to walks, commutes and all-day music. The Stealth Pro II works for those, but its size and weight become obvious outside a gaming chair, and a lighter noise-cancelling headphone built for all-day comfort is a better fit. If you just want great game audio for less, our guide to gaming headsets at every price has cheaper options. And if you mainly game on PC or PlayStation, the PC version of the Stealth Pro II adds Hi-Res Bluetooth audio and Game/Chat Mix on PC.
Swap the Battery, Keep Playing
The magnetic earcup cover off, a spare battery out, and the dock charging the second pack.
The swappable battery system is one of the Stealth Pro II's best features. The battery sits behind a magnetic cover on the left earcup. When it runs low, you pull the cover off, swap in the charged battery from the dock, snap the cover back on, and you're back in the game. It's far quicker than plugging in a cable and waiting.
Each battery is rated for up to 40 hours, so you won't be swapping often. In my use, battery life has been top tier, easily an A. With the spare always charging in the dock, running out mid-session simply isn't a worry, and that alone makes it easier to live with than most wireless headsets.
Built and Styled Like a Flagship
The mesh under the headband feels lighter than it looks and lets your head breathe.
The Stealth Pro II looks and feels like a serious, top-tier headset. Anodized aluminum, chrome accents and diamond-edged aluminum controls give it a sophisticated, bespoke look, and there are no cheap-feeling parts or cut corners anywhere. The mesh on the headband is a nice touch too. It feels lighter than it looks and lets your head breathe, and I've had no sweat or head strain during long sessions.
It also comes with a hard-shell case, which is a welcome extra at this price.
Comfortable for Gaming, Noticeable Everywhere Else
Given its size, I expected the Stealth Pro II to feel heavy or uncomfortable on my head. It doesn't. The memory foam cushions and soft earcups are comfortable, and I've had no issues wearing it for hours of gaming. It isn't the most comfortable headset I've used, but for what it does, it's comfortable enough.
The memory foam earcups stayed comfortable through long gaming sessions.
Where it shows its size is away from the desk. I've used it for travel, casual play and music around the house, and it still fits well and feels secure, but at about 393 g with the mic attached, you notice it more when you're moving around. If you plan to use one headset for everything, keep that in mind.
Big Bass and Superhuman Hearing
Gaming on my ultrawide with the Stealth Pro II.
The 60mm Eclipse dual drivers deliver massive bass that gives explosions and soundtracks plenty of weight. Overall, the sound is very good and sits toward the upper end of the headsets I've tried. Games sound great, with plenty of weight, though dedicated music headphones still pull out a little more fine detail. Four built-in presets, including Bass Boost and Vocal Boost, let you change the sound with a button press, and the Swarm II app adds a full EQ.
Superhuman Hearing is where it pulls ahead for gaming. It brings out the sounds that matter, like footsteps and gunshots, so they're easier to pick out in the middle of a fight. The advanced version adds three presets and adjustable intensity in the app, so you can tune it to each game.
Noise Cancelling That Does the Job
The active noise cancelling is good without being the best I've used. Four internal mics handle it, and Turtle Beach rates it at up to 25 dB of reduction. It's enough to take the edge off household noise and keep you focused during a match, but if blocking out a plane or a busy commute is your main priority, dedicated noise-cancelling headphones do it better.
One Headset for Your Console and Your Phone
The Stealth Pro II connects to your console or PC over its 2.4GHz CrossPlay 2.0 transmitter and to your phone over Bluetooth 5.3, at the same time. I've had it connected to my phone and my gaming laptops together, and switching and picking up between them has worked without a hitch. Taking a call or listening to Discord on your phone while still hearing the game is genuinely useful.
CrossPlay 2.0 can switch between up to four sources. One transmitter and its dock come in the box, with more transmitters sold separately.
Wheels and an App That Make Sense
The wheels and buttons on the earcups are easy to find and use mid-game, and they move smoothly with a solid, well-built feel. Most of the time, they're simply quicker than reaching for a menu during an active session. In the Swarm II app, you can choose what one dial and the Mode button do, and adjust EQ, mic settings and Superhuman Hearing.
The app worked without issues for me, and updating the firmware was quick and easy.
A Mic You Can Take Off
The detachable 9mm boom mic flips up to mute.
The 9mm boom mic is detachable and flips up to mute. It uses AI-based noise reduction to keep your voice clear, and when you take it off for travel or calls, built-in beamforming mics take over. Being able to remove the boom makes the headset look much cleaner when you're not gaming.

FAQ
How long does the Stealth Pro II battery last? Turtle Beach rates each battery for up to 40 hours, and two are included, for up to 80 hours before you need to plug anything in. Swapping is quick, and the dock charges the spare while you play.
Does the Xbox version work with PlayStation and PC? Yes. The Xbox version is officially licensed for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and it also works with PS5, PS4, PC and Bluetooth phones. Game/Chat Mix works on Xbox only with this version.
What's the difference between the Xbox and PC versions? The PC version adds Hi-Res Bluetooth audio, a higher-bandwidth mic and Game/Chat Mix on PC. It works with PC, PlayStation and Bluetooth devices, but not Xbox.
Can I use it with my phone and console at the same time? Yes. Its 2.4GHz wireless and Bluetooth 5.3 connections work simultaneously, so you can hear game audio while taking calls or listening to your phone.
Is the Stealth Pro II good for music and travel? It works well for both, and the noise cancelling and removable mic help. It's a big, heavy headset, though, so if you mostly want headphones for walking and commuting, a lighter pair will be more comfortable.
Does it support Dolby Atmos? Yes, on Xbox and PC.
The Turtle Beach Stealth Pro II is a gaming headset first, and for that job it's excellent. Swappable batteries make battery anxiety a thing of the past, the aluminum build looks and feels the part, Superhuman Hearing gives you an edge, and listening to your console and phone together just works. Its sound is very good, its noise cancelling is good rather than the best, and its size makes it less ideal as an everyday headphone.
If you want a premium headset that's always ready for the next session, this is a well-balanced choice I'd recommend.
