Unity says developers can start building for Meta VR Glasses right now, months before the headset reaches store shelves. The engine maker announced day-one support for the device, which Meta unveiled the previous day at Meta Connect. Retail availability is set for spring 2027, and no price has been disclosed.
The support is available immediately, so studios can begin work well ahead of launch. Developers need Unity 6.6 or higher, and the Meta XR All-in-One SDK v207 is out now through the Unity Asset Store. Unity has also widened eye and hand tracking support for the device, added spatial audio tools, and introduced a rendering mode the company says cuts GPU cost without a visible drop in quality.

One practical detail for teams without hardware on hand: interactions for the headset can be tested and previewed inside the Unity Editor, no device required. Unity says its command-line workflows can also be paired with Meta's AI tools. Technical documentation on the supported tools and workflows is posted on the Unity blog.
Existing Quest apps will run on Meta VR Glasses, and Quest titles built on OpenXR carry forward with the same workflows, according to the announcement. Titles in the works with Unity include Cardmada, Dragon Grove, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Dual Destinies VR, Dice Throne Digital, Story of Seasons, Supernatural, and Two Point Hospital Mixed Reality Edition.
"Unity powers the majority of the top-selling games on Meta VR, and we want that momentum to carry to VR Glasses from the start," said Alex Blum, COO, Unity. Supernatural's CEO, James Senior, said the engine let his team move from a fresh repository to a playable end-to-end workout in under two months.
The announcement leaves several basics unanswered. Unity's post gives no hardware specifications for the headset, no specific launch date within spring 2027, and no list of supported regions. The company also did not say what the device will cost.
The move builds on a multi-year platform and enterprise agreement between Unity and Meta announced in April. Unity separately laid out its Unity 7 roadmap at Unite Seoul in July.
Meta has been positioning the headset as its most advanced device yet and the first IMAX Enhanced certified VR product, with media partners including Prime Video, YouTube and ESPN and 3D content from Disney+, Peacock and HBO Max. The company has also said Private Processing is headed to its AI glasses, an announcement that likewise omitted price, launch date and region.
Unity trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker U.
