Samsung's $2,899 Galaxy Z TriFold sold out within minutes of its US debut this morning, demonstrating unexpected demand for the company's most expensive foldable smartphone to date.

The double-hinge device launched at 10AM Eastern (7AM Pacific) on Samsung's website, with buyers encountering out-of-stock messages within minutes. Droid Life reported checking the site about 30 minutes after the 10AM launch and finding the "Buy" button already greyed out, replaced by a "Notify Me" option for future availability.

Priced at $2,899 for the 512GB Crafted Black model, the TriFold represents Samsung's first two-hinge smartphone that unfolds into a 10-inch display. The device had launched in overseas markets including South Korea, China, Singapore, Taiwan, and the UAE before today's US launch, where Gizmodo reported it has been "a massive hit."
