Oracle is developing Oracle AI Workspace to connect its business applications and data to ChatGPT, aiming to let employees retrieve information and carry out approved tasks through the chatbot. OpenAI and Oracle expanded their partnership today with plans spanning business software, security and application development, but gave no launch date for Oracle AI Workspace.
For U.S. Oracle customers, a purchasing route is already available: access to ChatGPT Work, Codex and the OpenAI API can be bought through Oracle Marketplace. Customers can follow their established purchasing procedures and spend eligible Oracle Universal Credits on those services. That purchasing option is available while Oracle AI Workspace remains under development.

OpenAI says the planned workspace would let employees explain a task, locate relevant information and complete workflows subject to their employer’s permissions and approvals. In one proposed use, someone joining a finance team could examine spending, investigate purchase decisions and check unfinished work ahead of the monthly close. The companies want to connect information across procurement, planning and finance software, while simplifying administration and providing a shared sign-in.
Oracle AI SMB Bundle will package Oracle applications with ChatGPT Business, Codex and recurring credits for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, with the stated aim of helping small businesses develop products and handle operations. Oracle App Composer is intended to let teams create applications using Codex and other AI tools, connect them with authorized Oracle information and workflows, and distribute them internally. Oracle would handle deployment through Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and apply organizational access controls.
Oracle AI Security Mesh is intended to use OpenAI cyber models to detect and address application and infrastructure vulnerabilities, with Oracle operating the testing environment within customers’ authorized boundaries. Oracle also reported 130,000 active ChatGPT users and over 95,000 active Codex users. Its recruiting team now spends 15 to 20 minutes preparing market research with ChatGPT Work, compared with two to four days previously, according to OpenAI.
The expansion follows OpenAI’s April agreement with Amazon Web Services to jointly develop a platform for AI agents capable of carrying out computer tasks for users. That earlier partnership expansion came a day after Microsoft and OpenAI reworked their financial relationship, including a cap on OpenAI’s revenue-sharing payments to Microsoft through 2030.
