Apple has introduced MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, bringing Touch to the Mac for the first time and a tandem OLED screen rated for peak brightness reaching 2000 nits. The laptop comes in 14-inch and 16-inch sizes, with M5 Pro or M5 Max chips. Preorders open today, and availability is scheduled to begin Friday, November 6.
Configurations offer unified memory reaching 128GB and storage topping out at 16TB. Apple rates battery endurance at up to 24 hours and describes the thinner designs as weighing 3 and 4 pounds. Connections include Thunderbolt 5, while the laptop runs macOS 27 with Apple Intelligence and Siri AI.

Apple specifies a contrast ratio of 10,000,000:1, with the 2000-nit peak applying to both SDR and HDR content. ProMotion adjusts the refresh rate between 10Hz and 120Hz, allowing the screen to vary its speed with the content. Color support includes Adobe RGB alongside P3, and Apple puts Rec. 2020 coverage above 80 percent for HDR editing and grading.
Touch lets users enlarge photos with a pinch, draw across the screen and play software instruments directly on it. Apple says many existing apps can accept Touch input immediately because macOS converts touches to clicks. Developers can also test Touch interactions in their iOS and iPadOS apps using the laptop’s display.
Apple says the touch sensor sits inside the display panel to reduce latency, and a redesigned hinge improves stability during Touch use. Camera stabilization is intended to smooth video calls while users interact with the screen. Apple identifies Adobe Lightroom, Shapr3D and Notion among the third-party apps set to take advantage of Touch.
The separate 14-inch MacBook Pro introduced with M6 retained a Liquid Retina XDR screen and offered memory configurations reaching 32GB. That model has the same November 6 availability date, putting two different display technologies on Apple’s MacBook Pro buying calendar.
The new OLED models also bring Dynamic Island to the Mac for Spotlight, Live Activities and Siri AI. Apple says the revised six-speaker system produces bass that is 50 percent deeper. A nano-texture option is intended to reduce screen reflections, and video calls use a 12MP Center Stage camera.
