Apple has introduced a 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by M6, with 12 CPU cores, 12 GPU cores and wireless upgrades including Wi-Fi 7. Apple puts battery endurance at up to 24 hours and claims graphics performance can be up to 30 percent faster than M5. Preorders are scheduled to open October 28, ahead of availability on Friday, November 6.

Buyers can choose silver or space black. The laptop starts with 16GB of unified memory and supports configurations reaching 32GB, with memory bandwidth of up to 170GB/s. Both the CPU and GPU have gained two cores compared with the previous chip, giving this update a hardware increase alongside Apple’s performance claims.

For AI work performed on the laptop, Apple claims M6 delivers up to 25 percent faster performance than M5, including when processing prompts for local LLMs. Its Dual 16-core Neural Engine is rated at up to 1.9 times M5’s performance. Apple says Neural Accelerators within each GPU core work with the Neural Engine on tasks including generating images and AI upscaling.

The display remains a Liquid Retina XDR panel, with an optional nano-texture treatment. A 12MP Center Stage camera and six speakers handle calls and audio, while Bluetooth 6 joins Wi-Fi 7 for wireless connections. Apple says the laptop maintains the same performance when running on its battery as it does when connected to power.

The machine runs macOS 27, which brings Siri AI into Spotlight and context menus throughout the system. Apple says users can ask Siri about screen content through Visual Intelligence with a keyboard shortcut, or request writing and editing help wherever they type. Safari also gains tools for grouping tabs by topic and alerting users when websites change, including restocks and price reductions.

The launch follows Apple’s introduction of an iPad mini with an 8.5-inch OLED display, A20 Pro chip and IP67 dust and water protection. That tablet also has preorders scheduled for October 28 and availability set for November 6, putting the two devices on the same buying timetable.
