Wyze has announced the Bulb Cam Pan Color, a 2.5K pan-and-tilt security camera built into a full-color smart light bulb. It screws into a standard E26 socket and is available from today at Wyze.com for $99.98.
Because it draws power from the light socket, there is no battery to charge and no wiring or drilling. Wyze says installation takes about a minute, with pairing over Bluetooth in the Wyze app. A switch cover is included so the wall switch cannot be turned off by accident.
The camera
The camera streams 2.5K video with color night vision. It pans 360 degrees and tilts 180 degrees, and AI tracking follows people, pets and vehicles without a subscription. You can take control in the app at any time or set waypoints for spots you check often. AI notifications and cloud storage need Wyze's Cam Plus subscription.
A telescopic design lowers the lens below deep fixtures and lampshades. For privacy, the lens rotates into the housing and audio recording stops, and it returns to the same position when switched back on.
The light
The bulb puts out up to 1100 lumens in 16 million colors, with whites from 1800K to 6500K. Ambient and Motion modes each get their own schedule, color and brightness, so it can glow softly overnight and brighten when it detects motion. It can also sync colors and schedules with other Wyze Bulbs, even on different switches.
Storage and connections
- Continuous 24/7 recording to a microSD card of up to 512GB, sold separately, with no subscription.
- Dual-band Wi-Fi 6.
- Works with Amazon Alexa, Google Home and IFTTT.
Price and availability
The Wyze Bulb Cam Pan Color is available from today at Wyze.com for $99.98. It is the third launch of Wyze Week, which runs from October 19 to 23.
