Meta is adding a set of podcast features to Threads, aimed at both the people who make shows and the people who listen to them. The tools are rolling out today, according to the company's announcement. There is no price attached to any of it, and the announcement describes no paid tier.

For listeners, the changes are mostly about finding and keeping episodes. Profile and post banners give shows a visible home on the app, and a podcast link now turns into a tappable card rather than plain text. An episode picker lets a creator point to a favorite episode, and listeners can save episodes they come across in their feed.

Creators get a few production-oriented pieces as well. Posts built around transcripts, video and guest cards are meant to surface highlights and the people who appear in them. Creators can also opt in to a reminder from the app prompting them to post new episodes.

Meta is also attaching numbers to the effort. Insights for a podcast now report the engagement and reach Threads itself is sending toward it, including click and save counts. That gives creators a way to gauge how a show is landing on the platform.

The announcement does not say how long the rollout will take, and it names no regions where the features will be unavailable. Meta published the news on September 16.

The podcast push lands on a platform that has spent the past year widening what it does beyond short text posts. In February, Meta launched Dear Algo, an AI feature that adjusts a user's feed for three days after a request, starting in the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand. At that point Threads had passed 400 million monthly active users, and time spent on the app had risen 20 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025.

Threads has also been closing some of the gap with X, though the two remain far apart on several measures. In January, X still led on web traffic, with 145.4 million daily visitors against Threads' 8.5 million, while combined daily users stood at roughly 270 million for X and 150 million for Threads. Threads reported 115.1 million daily active users in June 2025, a 127.8 percent year-over-year increase.
