Reducto Office gives ChatGPT and Codex users a free plugin for changing existing Word, PowerPoint and Excel files, with a live editor where they can check the results. Reducto launched it on October 29 with support for DOCX, PPTX and XLSX files, allowing users to request specific revisions through an AI conversation.

The plugin is available in both ChatGPT and Codex, and its free access comes with usage limits. Getting started requires installing Reducto Office and linking a Reducto account before working with personal files. Users can inspect an agent's changes in the editor and make further adjustments to the same document.

Reducto says its editing system lets agents modify the underlying document structure without operating a graphical interface. The company describes preservation of existing formatting and structure as central to the tool, including contract tables, comments and revision tracking, as well as presentation design elements. Edits made by an agent appear in the live editor for users to examine and refine.

For contract work, Reducto says an agent can address reviewer comments and suggest revisions using tracked changes, leaving users to decide which proposals to keep. Another proposed use is adapting a client presentation for a different audience through translation while retaining its design and slide layouts. Finance and operations users can also hand a project brief or budget to an agent and get an Excel workbook back that they can keep editing.

The resulting files retain their standard Word, PowerPoint or Excel formats, so users can share them and carry on editing. The free plugin is distinct from Reducto Editor, a separately licensed product for developers and product teams adding document editing to their own applications. That offering supplies an embeddable interface and SDK for the same three file formats.

The release follows another expansion of work inside ChatGPT: ServiceNow's MCP plugin was already available through the OpenAI marketplace by October 29, with further improvements expected before the end of 2026. ServiceNow and OpenAI also planned a Codex connection for application development in 2027, while their ChatGPT integration was intended to let IT workers investigate incidents and modify ServiceNow records within conversations.
