Valve says it does not plan to make games that are exclusive to the Steam Machine. Engineer Pierre-Loup Griffais explained the company's position in an interview with Bloomberg.
"Restricting where people can play a game I don't think is a great model, at least for us," Griffais said. He described access to the broader PC catalog as the hardware's main software advantage.
Valve's comments rule out a device-only launch strategy for its own games. That directly addresses speculation that the company might use an exclusive title to promote the Steam Machine.
The statement does not confirm that Half-Life 3 or any other unannounced Valve project exists, and it does not provide a release date. It only establishes that Valve does not intend to restrict a future game to Steam Machine hardware.
