Dell is expanding its consumer laptop lineup with the Dell 14S, a machine aimed at students and young adults who want all-day battery life and a colorful design without a premium price. The company says the laptop delivers up to 21 hours of Netflix streaming on a single charge, thanks to a high energy density battery that runs cooler and holds capacity over time.

The Dell 14S is built around a 16:10 display with two panel options: a 2.8K 120Hz panel for sharpness and smoothness, or a 2K 60Hz panel for better battery life and value. It runs on Intel Core 5 and Core 7 Series 3 processors and comes in four colors: Linen, Dusty Rose, Washed Denim, and Velvet Green.

At 13.5mm thin and about 2.5 pounds, the laptop features an aluminum chassis, a departure from the plastic common in its price range, according to Dell. The company positions it as a more affordable alternative to its premium XPS 13, which it introduced earlier this year.

The Dell 14S will be available in the United States this fall, with pricing announced closer to availability in each market. Dell says the laptop is meant to work alongside the XPS 13 and stay affordable for students and younger buyers worldwide.

Dell notes that the 14S is distinct from another Dell 14S launched earlier this year, which targeted creator enthusiasts with higher-end display and configuration options. The new model prioritizes everyday performance, portability, and accessible pricing.
