ASUS says its ZenWiFi BN12 mesh system is now shipping, bringing tri-band WiFi 8 with speeds of up to 19Gbps and two 10G Ethernet ports to home networks. The company rates coverage at up to 7,000 square feet for a two-pack, though the announcement does not mention pricing. ASUS says the system is designed to improve connections in distant rooms and help devices share a busy network.

For wired equipment, the ZenWiFi BN12 also has three 2.5G Ethernet ports, with its connections supporting WAN and LAN use. ASUS positions those ports for equipment such as NAS devices and PCs, as well as internet services offering multi-gigabit speeds. The system can expand through the AiMesh ecosystem as households need additional coverage.

ASUS says WiFi 8 puts greater emphasis on reliability, with improvements intended to keep performance steadier when signal conditions change. The company also claims better throughput at medium and longer distances, plus stronger connections for low-power devices near the limits of coverage. Smart AiMesh coordinates mesh nodes and manages their backhaul connections, which ASUS says helps reduce interference across rooms and floors.

Adaptive QoE monitors traffic and changes network priorities as applications and devices compete for bandwidth. ASUS contrasts that behavior with traditional Quality of Service, where classifications and priorities are set in advance. The company says its approach helps households sustain activities such as video calls and gaming while other devices download files or run smart-home services.

WiFi Insight checks interference originating from both WiFi and non-WiFi sources, offering a visual view of network conditions. Its tools include automatic channel changes and a history covering 24 hours, alongside monitoring in real time. ASUS says those functions help users identify interference and maintain connections without manually investigating complicated wireless problems.

Security features include Safe Browsing, AiProtection and VPN support, while parental controls let families manage content, access and internet schedules. ASUS says protection operates across the network, reducing the need to install separate security software on each connected device.

Earlier this month, ASUS said its ROG Rapture GT-BN98 gaming router was shipping with quad-band WiFi 8 and bandwidth reaching up to 25,000Mbps. That model included two 10G ports and four 2.5G ports, alongside Adaptive QoE for adjusting bandwidth allocation as demand changed.
