Dark mode has become a popular feature across apps and websites, and Skype for Web is no exception. Switching to dark mode can make your Skype experience more comfortable, especially during long chat sessions or in low-light environments.
Dark mode reduces eye strain by lowering the contrast between text and background, making it easier on your eyes during extended use. On devices with OLED screens, it can also help conserve battery life.
How to Enable Dark Mode in Skype for Web
Follow these simple steps to switch your Skype for Web interface to dark mode:
- 1.Open your web browser and navigate to web.skype.com
- 2.Log in with your Skype username and password
- 3.Click to expand
Once logged in, go to your main Skype chat interface

- 1.Click the three dots menu button next to your profile name
- 2.Select "Settings" from the dropdown menu

- 1.Click on "Appearance" in the settings sidebar
- 2.Under the "Modes" section, choose "Dark"

The interface will immediately switch to dark mode. The change applies to your entire Skype for Web experience, including chat windows, contact lists, and settings panels.
If you find dark mode isn't working for you, you can easily switch back by returning to Settings > Appearance and selecting "Light" mode. The setting is persistent, so Skype will remember your preference for future sessions.
