To see missing Facebook comments, open the post, select the current comment-order option, such as Most relevant, and choose All comments when that option is offered. If entire threads fail to load, reload Facebook and try another connection or browser. Start with comment controls when individual replies are missing, and use app or browser repairs when unrelated posts fail to load.

Hidden comments, audience restrictions, and moderation decisions require the person who controls the content to act. As a viewer, you cannot restore someone else's deleted, hidden, audience-restricted, or policy-removed comment by changing your settings.

The short version

  • Missing individual comments: Choose All comments before changing app settings.
  • Threads will not load: Reload Facebook, try another connection, and open the same post in another app or browser.
  • App problems: Update Facebook, then clear its Android cache or reinstall it on iPhone or iPad if needed.
  • Hidden or removed comments: The post owner, group administrator, or Facebook may need to review them.

Show all comments on the post

Open the affected post and select View more comments if needed. Select the current comment-order option, such as Most relevant, then choose All comments to include potential spam, or Newest comments for chronological viewing. These controls apply to supported posts on the website and Facebook apps for iPhone, iPad, and Android, with choices varying by post and profile.

On desktop, look for the selector at the bottom right of the comments area; on iPhone and Android, look at the bottom left. The selection is temporary. If switching the filter reveals the missing discussion, stop there.

On Android Feed posts, Facebook can also cover comments it considers potentially offensive. Select Unhide under a covered comment to reveal it and its replies to you. Refreshing the post covers that comment again.

Open comments on Live videos and reels

Facebook Live's quiet mode hides the comment interface. On desktop, hover over the live video and click the quiet-mode icon at the bottom right again; on iPhone or Android, tap the up-arrow icon to bring comments and reactions back. These controls restore the display when the broadcaster has comments enabled.

While watching a reel, select Comment to open its comments. For an Instagram reel viewed through Facebook, select View on Instagram when offered to continue there. Viewing those comments does not require connecting Instagram to Accounts Center.

Restore hidden comments on your own posts

For your own profile post, check whether the missing comments were hidden. On the desktop website, locate the hidden comment and click Unhide, or open Options beside it and select Unhide comment. Unhiding a parent comment also reveals its hidden replies.

A keyword filter can keep hiding legitimate comments, including variations of filtered words. On desktop, select your profile picture, then open Settings & privacy > Settings > Followers and public content. Under Viewing and sharing, select Hide comments containing certain words from your profile, remove unwanted keywords with X, and click Save. Open already-hidden comments separately and click Unhide.

For a comment Facebook marked as spam, the desktop controls depend on your role. As the post owner, click Keep Comment to make it visible and notify its author. As the comment's author, click Not Spam to request approval; the comment remains hidden until the owner approves or deletes it.

If you want to interact with a blocked account again, you can unblock someone on Facebook. On desktop, select your profile picture and open Settings & privacy > Settings > Audience and visibility > Blocking. Beside Block profiles and Pages, select Edit > See your blocked list, then select Unblock beside the entry and click Confirm. Unblocking does not automatically restore friendship or following, and Meta requires a waiting period before you can block that account again.

Review group holds and removed comments

A missing group comment may be awaiting moderation. In eligible groups using Facebook's flagged-content system, open the group and select Options > Your content > Flagged, then read the notice. If you administer the group, open Flagged by Facebook, review the held content, and request another Meta review or restore it when that option is offered. Meta says held content stays hidden and is automatically deleted after seven days if it remains unreviewed.

If new comments are disabled, an administrator, moderator, or post creator can open the group post and select Options > Turn on commenting. This permits new comments; it does not recover deleted ones.

For account and moderation notices, use the desktop website and select your profile picture, then Help & support > Support inbox. For a Page or group, use the account that administers it. If Facebook removed your own comment, select your profile picture, your profile name, then Options > Profile Status and open the removal message. Select Request review when offered, then wait for Facebook to notify you of its decision.

Fix loading and connection problems

When unrelated threads fail to appear on the Facebook website, refresh the page, then close and reopen it if refreshing does not help. Try the same post in another current browser, and restart your computer or mobile device if the problem continues. In desktop Chrome, bypass cached content with Ctrl + Shift + R on Windows or Linux, or Command + Shift + R on Mac.

Compare the app with the website using the same account. If the app fails, sign in to Facebook in a current browser and open the same post; if one browser fails, try another browser or the supported app. This comparison helps isolate the loading problem, but it does not bypass comment permissions.

Switch from Wi-Fi to cellular data, or try another Wi-Fi network. Complete the sign-in portal on public Wi-Fi before retrying Facebook, and restart your modem and router if the connection itself is failing. If Facebook works over Wi-Fi but not cellular on iPhone, open Settings > Cellular, turn on Cellular Data, and enable Facebook in the app list, selecting Show All if necessary.

Update and repair the Facebook app

Install an available Facebook update, then reopen the app and retry the comments. On iPhone or iPad, open App Store, select your profile icon, then open App Updates and install the Facebook update. On Android, open Google Play Store, select your profile icon, then choose Manage apps & devices and update Facebook under Updates available.

If the iPhone app is unresponsive, swipe up from the bottom and pause midway on a model without a Home button, find Facebook, then swipe its preview upward. On an iPhone with a Home button, double-click Home, find Facebook, then swipe its preview upward. Reopen Facebook after closing it. On Pixel, open Settings > Apps > See all apps > Facebook > Force stop, tap OK, and reopen it.

Clear the Android app cache next if the problem continues. On Pixel, open Settings > Apps > See all apps > Facebook > Storage & cache > Clear cache. On Samsung Galaxy, open Settings > Apps > Facebook > Storage > Clear cache. Reopen Facebook after clearing its cache on either device.

Save app-data removal for after those repairs because it removes local data, preferences, and login state. Before proceeding, make sure you can sign back in; you can find your saved Facebook password or reset it if necessary. On Pixel, return to Storage & cache, select Clear storage, and tap OK; on Samsung Galaxy, return to Storage, tap Clear data, then Delete. Open Facebook and sign in again.

For persistent iPhone or iPad app problems, touch and hold Facebook, select Remove App > Delete App, then tap Delete. Reinstall Facebook from its official App Store listing and sign in again. Deleting the app removes its local data, and Screen Time or device management can prevent deletion.

Fix browser extensions and stored data

If the failure follows one desktop browser, try a separate browsing session before deleting data. In Chrome, open More > New Incognito window, sign in to Facebook, and open the same post. If comments work there, investigate extensions and stored browser data in your normal profile.

Open Chrome's More > Extensions > Manage extensions, turn extensions off, and retry Facebook. Re-enable them individually to identify a conflict, especially with extensions that block scripts or modify Facebook.

If that does not solve it, open More > Delete browsing data and select All time. Check Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files, leave unrelated data unselected, and select Delete data. Reopen Facebook and sign in if required.

In desktop Firefox, visit Facebook, click the padlock or shield beside the address bar, and select Clear cookies and site data. Confirm with Clear or Remove, then reload Facebook and sign in again if required.

On Mac Safari, open File > New Private Window and try Facebook there. If it works, return to Safari > Settings > Privacy > Manage Website Data, select Facebook, click Remove, then Done. Reopen Facebook in a normal window; removing its stored data can sign you out.

Report comments that still fail to load

Report a persistent loading failure after comparing the same post across apps, browsers, and connections. On desktop, select your profile picture, then Help & support > Report a problem. Describe the affected post and missing comments, your device, the browser or app version, and whether another app or browser displays the comments.

You can take a screenshot of the problem and attach it when the reporting flow offers attachments. In the Facebook app for iPhone or Android, you can also shake the phone while the failure is visible and follow the reporting instructions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you make Facebook always show All comments?

Facebook does not document a universal viewer setting that permanently selects All comments. For your own profile content, you can turn off personalized ranking if your profile offers it: on desktop, open Settings & privacy > Settings, select Followers and public content below Audience and visibility, and turn off Show most relevant comments first. Facebook Live remains ranked.

Why is an old Facebook comment box missing from another website?

Meta discontinued the embedded Facebook Comments social plugin on February 10, 2026. Local Facebook settings cannot restore it. The website owner can replace the obsolete integration with another commenting surface.

Can you find a comment you previously left?

On the desktop website, select your profile picture, then open Settings & Privacy > Activity Log > Activity history. Use Date and Activity Type to narrow the results, including Your activity across Facebook for interactions. This locates recorded activity but does not restore deleted or inaccessible content.

Where can a Page owner find comments hidden by the Page?

With Facebook access to the Page, switch into it on desktop or Android and open the post. Select Most Relevant > Hidden by This Page, then select Unhide on the relevant comment. Enable Page comment ranking first if the hidden-comments filter is unavailable because ranking is off.

Does clearing Facebook's in-app browsing data repair the comment cache?

Facebook's in-app browsing-data control clears its embedded website browser. It does not clear the native Facebook app's comment cache, so it addresses a different part of the app.
