To copy a page in Word on Windows, select its contents, press Ctrl + C, choose Insert > Blank Page at the destination, then press Ctrl + V. Use Ctrl + A to select the content only when you want the entire document. For one page within a longer document, drag across that page’s content instead.
The desktop instructions cover Word for Microsoft 365 and Word 2024 unless a method specifies otherwise. Mac, browser, and mobile instructions appear separately. Copying transfers your selection, so check pagination, pictures, headers, footers, and section formatting after pasting.

Copy a document that contains one page
In Word for Microsoft 365 or Word 2024 on Windows, click inside the document and press Ctrl + A. Press Ctrl + C to copy the selection. Use this when the entire document is the page you want.
With the mouse, you can instead triple-click the left margin, then press Ctrl + C. This also selects the entire document, including any additional pages. For a longer file, select the individual page’s content before copying.
Select one page from a longer document
On Windows, place the pointer at the beginning of the desired page’s content and drag through its end. Check both ends of the selection, then press Ctrl + C or select Home > Copy.
To find the page in a long Windows document, press Ctrl + F to open the Navigation pane. Select Pages, then click the page’s thumbnail. The thumbnail takes you to the page; select its content in the document before copying.
You can also select the current page through Go To on Windows or Mac. Click inside the source page, then press Ctrl + G on Windows or Option + Command + G on Mac. In Enter page number, type this command:
\pagePress Enter, then select Close. Check the highlighted content and press Ctrl + C on Windows or Command + C on Mac.
For keyboard selection on either desktop platform, position the cursor at the content’s start. Hold Shift and extend the selection with Left Arrow, Right Arrow, Up Arrow, or Down Arrow until you reach its end. Alternatively, press F8, click the endpoint, then press Esc. On a Mac, if F8 doesn’t work, press Fn + F8 or change the conflicting macOS keyboard shortcut. Copy the selected content with Ctrl + C on Windows or Command + C on Mac.
Paste onto a blank page or into another document
With the content copied on Windows, click where you want the new page to go in the original document or another document. Select Insert > Blank Page, then press Ctrl + V.
You can use a page break instead when the copied content should start on a fresh page. Place the insertion point at the destination, press Ctrl + Enter, then press Ctrl + V.
To put the copied page in a separate file, select File > New > Blank document. Press Ctrl + V, check the resulting layout, then save the new document.
Fix formatting changes after pasting
In Word for Microsoft 365 or Word 2024 on Windows, paste with Ctrl + V, select the Paste button, or right-click and select Paste. Open Paste Options and choose Keep Source Formatting to retain the copied formatting. Choose Merge Formatting when you want the content to blend with the destination’s formatting.
Choose Keep Text Only when you want plain text. This removes graphics and formatting and converts tables into paragraphs. If you need the page’s pictures or tables, choose a different paste option.
If the paste-options button is missing, open File > Options > Advanced. Under Cut, copy, and paste, select Show Paste Options button when content is pasted, then select OK.
To change the default formatting, return to File > Options > Advanced and find Cut, copy, and paste. Choose the desired formatting for Pasting within the same document or Pasting between documents, then select OK.
Inspect pagination, floating objects, headers, footers, and section formatting after pasting. For further layout adjustments, follow the steps to double space the copied text or make one page landscape. If you have an unwanted extra page, follow the steps to delete a page in Word.
In Word for Microsoft 365 on Windows, you can also paste the content and choose Picture from the paste options. The result is an image rather than editable text, so choose it when you want a picture of the copied content.
Copy a page in Word on Mac
In Word for Microsoft 365 for Mac or Word 2024 for Mac, select the desired page’s content. Use Command + A only if you want the entire document. Press Command + C to copy your selection.
Click at the destination and press Command + Return to insert a page break. Press Command + V to paste, then check the resulting layout, including objects, headers, and footers.
Copy in your browser and fix clipboard errors
In Word for the web in a supported desktop browser, use Editing or Reviewing mode and select the desired content. On Windows, press Ctrl + C, click the destination, then press Ctrl + V. On Mac, press Command + C, click the destination, then press Command + V. You can also use the ribbon’s Copy and Paste commands, subject to browser clipboard permissions.
From Reading view, drag across the desired content, selecting at least one complete line. Press Ctrl + C on Windows or Command + C on Mac, then paste into another document or app. To paste within the source document, select Edit in Browser. Microsoft says content copied from this view and pasted outside Word loses formatting.
If the ribbon’s clipboard commands are blocked in Chrome, select View site information in the address bar and turn on Clipboard. Retry the copy or paste command in Word.
In Edge, select View site information and find Clipboard under Permission for this site. Choose Allow, then retry the command.
If you have an installed, licensed desktop copy of Word, select Editing > Open in Desktop App to continue there. Select and copy the page’s content, paste it at the destination using the desktop instructions, then save.
Copy page text on a tablet or with a mobile keyboard
In Word for iPad, select the first word and drag the selection handles through the page’s text. Tap Copy, tap the destination insertion point, then tap Paste.
In Word for Android tablets, double-tap the first word and extend the selection handles through the page’s text. Tap the copy icon, tap the destination, then tap the clipboard icon. The adjacent arrow offers Paste, Keep Source Formatting, Keep Text Only, and Paste Format.
With an external keyboard attached to an iPhone or iPad, press Command + A and Command + C to copy a one-page document. Place the insertion point at the destination and press Command + V. For a longer document, select only the desired content instead of selecting everything.
On Android phones or tablets with an external keyboard, press Ctrl + A and Ctrl + C to copy a one-page document. Place the insertion point at the destination and press Ctrl + V. In a longer file, select only the content you want before copying.
