Waymo rides are now available through the Lyft app in Nashville, with matching to a Waymo vehicle at no additional cost, according to Lyft. The service covers Downtown and Broadway, North Nashville and Germantown, East Nashville, Midtown, and South Nashville, and availability will grow gradually over the coming weeks. Riders can decline an autonomous ride when matched or opt out of them entirely, and Lyft says the network will mix human-driven and autonomous vehicles.
Lyft's subsidiary Flexdrive is handling fleet management for Waymo in Nashville and plans to open an 80,000-square-foot depot in October, bringing more than 70 new full-time roles this year, including some former Lyft drivers. Lyft says it has hosted Driver Autonomous Forum sessions in Nashville and a driver appreciation event in August, and it points to driver tools like Weekly Planner, Guidance Heatmap, and Turbo bonuses as part of its commitment.
The move builds on a partnership that began in September 2025, when Lyft and Waymo first connected in Nashville, and follows Waymo's launch of fully autonomous service in the city in February 2026. Waymo says its ride-hailing service has delivered tens of millions of fully autonomous trips and now serves riders across more than 14 U.S. cities, with an all-electric fleet. The company, which started in 2009 as the Google Self-Driving Car Project, claims that in the cities it serves, its vehicles are over 10 times safer than the humans behind the wheel.
"Nashville riders have been quick to embrace autonomous vehicles as part of how they get around the city. Adding Waymo vehicles to our marketplace is a natural fit," said Sid Patil, Head of Rideshare at Lyft. Waymo's Nicole Gavel, Senior Director, Head of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships, said, "Our goal is to bring the safety, reliability, and magic of the Waymo Driver to as many people as possible."
Lyft did not set a date for when matching will be offered across the full service area.
