Sony has introduced its first fisheye zoom G Lens, the SEL814G, designed for full-frame E-mount Alpha cameras. The lens covers an 8 mm to 14 mm focal range, offering a circular fisheye view at the wide end and a diagonal fisheye at the telephoto end. It maintains a constant f/3.5 aperture throughout the zoom range.
The SEL814G will be available in October 2026 with a suggested retail price of $1,599.99 in the US and $1,999.99 in Canada. Pre-orders open today at 7 AM PST.
The lens weighs about 314 g and has a maximum diameter of 63.1 mm with a length of 82.8 mm, according to Sony's published specifications. It focuses as close as 0.15 m and offers a maximum magnification of 0.22x at the telephoto end. The optical construction includes ED glass and aspherical elements to suppress aberrations, and an inner zoom mechanism minimizes center of gravity shift.
For video shooters, the lens suppresses focus breathing and includes an aperture ring with switchable click stops. Sony says the autofocus is fast and precise, and lists Linear Response manual focus, a design that resists dust and moisture, and a fluorine coating applied to the front element. Sony notes the design is not guaranteed to be 100% dust and moisture proof.
Sony also highlighted a dual-lens setup using the SEL814G with the VENICE Extension System Mini, which is sold separately. In that setup, Sony says the optical axes sit roughly 64 mm apart, a spacing it links to spatial content production.
The lens is aimed at landscapes, architecture, sports, and video work, and will be exhibited at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam starting September 11.
