Qualcomm has made some big claims about its new Snapdragon Elite X chip. They say the chip is faster than both Apple and Intel in performance. The chip, announced in October, promises to outperform not only Apple’s M3 series chips but also Intel’s latest 14th-gen Meteor Lake processors.

According to Digital Trends reports, the Snapdragon Elite X chip which is equipped with custom Oryon cores, will make a big change for computers using ARM technology.  Qualcomm says the chip is 21% faster than Apple's M3 chip for computers, which is a big deal for the future  Windows laptops using ARM.

This success started when Qualcomm bought Nuvia in 2021. This brought Gerard Williams, who used to lead the team that made Apple's chips, to Qualcomm. It shows that Qualcomm is focused on making excellent CPU designs.

Even though this sounds exciting, people will need to wait until around mid-2024 to  buy computers with the Snapdragon chip from brands like Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Honor, Lenovo, Microsoft Surface, Samsung, and Mi. Meanwhile, people at Qualcomm have been using new unnamed devices and giving good feedback. They're saying the devices work better and can do AI stuff right on the computer.

Qualcomm's new chip is not only faster than Apple's, but it's also giving a tough competition to Intel's new chips. Although Qualcomm hasn't compared both directly, Leaked test results show that it could almost match Intel's performance and have better battery life.
