Apple's Cosmic Orange iPhone 17 Pro was a hit, but don't expect a repeat. A Weibo leaker known as Instant Digital says the iPhone 18 Pro's signature color blends three shades into one: burgundy, coffee, and a deep purple. The leaker, who correctly called the iPhone 14 yellow, described it as a single composite shade rather than separate color options previously rumored.
"I'm really curious to see how it will be named," they said. The rest of the palette is taking shape too. Silver carries over from the current lineup, while dark blue reportedly gets replaced by light blue.
Dark gray rounds out what could be either three or four total options. Apple has launched four Pro colors before and sometimes adds a fourth mid-cycle. The color news arrives as the broader iPhone 18 picture gets clearer. MacRumors reports that September's Pro models will feature a smaller Dynamic Island rather than the fully under-screen Face ID initially expected.
Only one Face ID component moves beneath the display this generation, but it still shrinks the cutout.
Here's where it gets interesting. The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max won't launch alone.
Apple is expected to unveil its first foldable alongside them in September, possibly called the iPhone Ultra or iPhone Ultra foldable. That device reportedly uses a "passport" shape (wider than tall when open) with a titanium frame and crease-free display targeting under 0.15mm depth.
TrendForce estimates Apple could capture close to 20% of the foldable smartphone market this year, compressing Samsung and Huawei to roughly 30% each. Foxconn began trial production last week of what's likely Apple's most ambitious hardware play since the original iPhone.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman told TBPN this week that Apple has six major new product categories in development, including smart glasses, AI AirPods, and Home products, signaling that September is just one stop on an aggressive launch calendar running through early 2027.
