Bank of America, Blackstone, Citi and Morgan Stanley today announced a $63 billion financing transaction intended to supply Anthropic with AI computing hardware from Broadcom. The partners say the arrangement will fund purchases of Broadcom XPU AI accelerators and networking equipment for lease to Anthropic, with deliveries expected to begin in 2027. The transaction forms part of an earlier agreement for computing capacity that Broadcom had already announced.
The planned purchases will run through a newly created special purpose vehicle, backed by financing commitments from the four financial partners. Individual hardware prices and Anthropic's lease costs were not disclosed.

Responsibility for the financing is split: Morgan Stanley, Bank of America and Citi are arranging its first lien portion, while Blackstone alone is providing the committed second lien portion. Broadcom will also support the vehicle's residual value in an amount matching the first lien financing. That gives Broadcom a financial support role in the arrangement alongside its role supplying the accelerators and networking equipment that the vehicle is intended to purchase.
Broadcom's other AI chip work includes Jalapeño, a custom chip announced with OpenAI in June and designed specifically for inference, the work of running trained models to answer prompts. OpenAI planned to start deploying Jalapeño in operating data centers by the end of this year, with Broadcom manufacturing the chip and supplying Tomahawk networking technology.
Broadcom President and CEO Hock Tan said demand for AI computing continues to grow rapidly and described the financing as evidence that capital is available to support that growth. Evercore is Broadcom's financial adviser on the transaction.
