Samsung Health users aged 65 and older are set to gain access to Lark Health diabetes prevention programs through a partnership Samsung announced today. The initial offering centers on Lark’s Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP), while some users who do not qualify may receive a separate prevention program without additional out-of-pocket charges.

MDPP participation requires users to satisfy Medicare qualification rules, including enrollment in Medicare Part B and having no active diabetes diagnosis. Eligible participants receive access to live clinical resources and tools including a cellular scale, alongside coaching powered by AI. Samsung has not specified a launch date.

For Samsung Health users aged 65 and older who cannot qualify for MDPP, Lark Prevention may provide another route: a year-long program that Samsung values at $249 annually. It is offered without additional out-of-pocket charges during the companies’ agreement, although both companies retain the option to introduce charges or revise pricing later.

Lark’s programs use smartphones to deliver health tracking and AI coaching around the clock, with guidance covering habits such as eating and exercise. Personalized lessons and immediate feedback are also part of the service, which Samsung says has helped 2.5 million patients make healthier everyday choices. Coaching requires an internet connection, and service can be interrupted when network coverage is poor.

Samsung says a later phase is planned around the CMS Innovation Center’s Advancing Chronic Care with Effective, Scalable Solutions, or ACCESS, Model. Through that effort, eligible users may receive further Lark programs for cardiometabolic conditions and behavioral health, pairing AI coaching with clinical supervision, tracking and clinical resources without additional out-of-pocket charges. Samsung Health has also recently joined the Medicare App Library, which helps beneficiaries find digital health services.

The partnership follows other planned Samsung Health changes, including a reduction in the sleep data needed to begin Sleep Coaching from seven recorded days to three. Samsung scheduled those app updates to begin in October, alongside an expansion of Running Coach from 10 training levels to 12 and an initial U.S. beta for Scan Meal, which uses meal photographs to provide nutrition information.
