Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game arrives July 2 with simultaneous Switch and Switch 2 versions, marking one of the first major cross-generational releases for Nintendo's hardware transition.
Gameplay Group and publisher PM Studios announced the fighting title will launch on July 2, 2026 across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam, and both Nintendo Switch consoles. The original Switch version represents a new addition to previously announced platforms.
The $29.99 standard edition includes 12 playable characters at launch, with more fighters planned through seasonal updates post-release. A $49.99 Deluxe Edition includes the Standard Edition content plus a music soundtrack, digital art book, unique HUDs, and the Year 1 Pass which adds five characters and additional character colors.
Voting privileges for Year 1 Pass content are available as a pre-order bonus.
Cross-play support and rollback netcode come standard across all platforms, addressing competitive community demands for modern fighting game infrastructure. The technical foundation aims to maintain parity between Switch generations despite hardware differences.
Avatar Legends features a movement-focused combat system built around positioning mechanics rather than traditional tag-team dynamics. Each fighter pairs with support characters that influence strategy without forcing full tag-fighter complexity.
Beyond versus modes, the package includes an original canon story mode set within the Avatar universe alongside arcade, training, combo trials, and gallery content.
"a fast-paced 1v1 fighter where you battle as your favourite characters from the Avatar franchise"
The simultaneous release tests how developers manage performance expectations across Nintendo's hardware generations while maintaining feature parity for competitive play.
