Apple says apps adapted for iPhone Duo will begin arriving on Friday, letting users watch video above cast information or keep more editing tools beside their footage on its folding screen. The phone’s inner display has 50 percent more area than iPhone 18 Pro Max, and Split View lets users place two apps beside each other. App Store collections highlighting adapted apps and games are also scheduled for Friday, with a Made for iPhone Duo badge identifying them on store pages.

Apple previously set the phone’s starting U.S. price at $1,999, with storage options spanning 256GB to 2TB. Its earlier developer update put customer availability on October 23, aligning the first app experiences with the handset’s arrival. Some software will follow later: Apple says Microsoft Word and Outlook updates are due over the coming weeks, while Zenless Zone Zero gets its iPhone Duo update next month.

Prime Video uses a partially folded phone to put video on the upper portion while displaying X-Ray cast information and extras below. Netflix lets members browse Clips on the outer screen and continue inside, adapting the Clips view between horizontal and vertical orientations. MLB takes a similar approach to Prime Video, separating the live broadcast from real-time statistics when the phone rests partially folded on a table.

For work, the forthcoming Word layout puts formatting controls beside the document, while Outlook places an open message alongside the inbox. Zoom displays meeting participants together with shared material, and Fantastical brings tasks, calendar information and menus into one view. Apple says the matching aspect ratios of the phone’s two displays allow apps to scale proportionally as users switch between them.

Creative apps also use the additional space: Instagram’s Edits displays footage alongside its timeline and editing controls. Detail runs AI models locally through Core AI, and its editing layout places a transcript beside video. VLLO gives creators room to see more footage and controls together.

For gaming, Apple claims A20 Pro and a custom vapor chamber deliver up to 35 percent better sustained performance than iPhone 17 Pro. UnGodly adjusts its controls for either display and offers a taller view of its worlds when the phone is closed; its App Store launch is scheduled for November. Deck-Man uses folding as a playback control, letting users select an album with the phone open and close it to start music from Apple Music.
