Apple has introduced Apple Home Collection, bringing cameras with up to 2.5K video, a door lock and climate controls into its Home app through collaborations with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. Availability is scheduled to begin in December, with select accessories following in early 2027. Apple says buyers can begin setup by tapping with an iPhone and manage the accessories without creating another account or installing another app.
LG’s four cameras require a home hub, with supported devices including Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini, and store recorded events through a supported iCloud+ plan. That plan provides 10 days of event recordings without an additional camera subscription, while eligible plans add Apple Intelligence descriptions and searches using everyday language. Apple says the cameras identify familiar faces, people, packages, vehicles and pets, and onboard storage lets recording continue during Wi-Fi outages.

LG’s Video Doorbell uses two cameras to show visitors and deliveries separately, pairing a 2.5K front view with a full HD bottom view. LG’s Indoor Cam can tilt to adjust its view and automatically points down to stop monitoring when the first household member gets home. For outdoor monitoring, LG’s Floodlight Cam combines motion-triggered lighting with color night vision in low light, a capability also offered by LG’s Outdoor Cam.
LG’s Smart Deadbolt Lock uses Ultra Wideband to detect an approaching person and automatically unlock for someone carrying a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch with a home key. Alternative entry methods include a PIN pad, tapping an Apple device and a concealed backup key slot, while owners can share guest access through the Home app. The lock supports Matter and Aliro, and its core entry functions operate locally without internet access.
LG Electronics and Schneider Electric each supply a Smart Thermostat, with Adaptive Temperature using intelligence on iPhone to adjust settings around occupancy, nighttime routines and absences. Clean Energy Guidance can move heating and cooling into cleaner, cheaper periods in the contiguous U.S. for households on compatible utility plans. The thermostats can use readings from separate temperature and humidity sensors or sensors inside devices including HomePod and HomePod mini.
Both thermostats and the separate sensors support Matter, with wire detection on the devices intended to help owners install them. Every Apple Home Collection accessory supports Thread and automatically receives updated network credentials when the household changes its Wi-Fi. Apple says Home app data uses end-to-end encryption that prevents Apple, LG Electronics and Schneider Electric from reading it.
