To log in to your Orbi router, connect to its network, open orbilogin.com in a browser, and enter admin plus the administrator password created during setup. The BASIC Home page opens, where you can select ADVANCED for advanced settings. On a compatible home Orbi system, you can also open settings through the Orbi app.
The browser uses your router administrator credentials, while the app also uses a separate NETGEAR account. Sign in only through NETGEAR’s own app or website, and never share a code, password, or remote access with someone who contacts you.

Open the browser login page
Connect your computer or phone to the Orbi network, then enter orbilogin.com in your browser’s address bar. Enter admin as the username and the administrator password created during setup. Credentials are case-sensitive, so match their capitalization exactly.
After you sign in, the BASIC Home page opens. Select ADVANCED to open advanced settings. This route applies to home Orbi systems, including the Orbi 970 RBE971.
On newer Orbi routers, NETGEAR also directs you to orbilogin.local. Open that address while connected to Orbi and enter the same administrator credentials. If the page does not open, try orbilogin.com or the direct IP address method below.
Sign in with the Orbi app
On a compatible Android or iOS device, get the app through NETGEAR’s official Orbi app page, then install it from Apple’s App Store or Google Play. Connect your phone to Orbi WiFi and open the app. Sign in to your NETGEAR account or create one when prompted.
Enter your router administrator credentials when requested, then tap SIGN IN. Your NETGEAR account and router administrator login are separate credentials, so enter the credentials requested by each prompt.
On the Dashboard, tap WiFi Settings to open your wireless settings. This path applies to supported home Orbi systems, including WiFi 6 and WiFi 6E models, RBE773, and Orbi 970 kits.
Fix a login page or app that will not open
First, confirm that your device is connected to the Orbi network. On newer routers, try orbilogin.local if orbilogin.com does not open. On supported WiFi 5, WiFi 6, WiFi 6E, cable and cellular Orbi models, you can also enter orbilogin.net and sign in with your router administrator credentials.
For direct IP access, NETGEAR lists 10.168.168.1 for newer routers and 192.168.1.1 for older routers. If your router’s address was changed, enter its actual address instead. When your Orbi uses the older address, you can log in to 192.168.1.1 admin with your router administrator credentials.
If your computer cannot join Orbi WiFi, connect it by Ethernet to a LAN port on the Orbi router. Open orbilogin.com, orbilogin.local, or the router’s actual IP address in a browser, then enter your administrator credentials. This option requires an Orbi router with Ethernet LAN ports.
If the app cannot discover Orbi on your iPhone or iPad, open Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network. Turn on Orbi if it is listed, and tap Allow when the local network permission prompt appears. This permission enables app discovery; you still need to sign in.
If your Orbi operates in access point mode, use the browser because the Orbi app cannot manage the system in AP mode. Connect to the Orbi network, open orbilogin.com or orbilogin.net, and enter admin plus your administrator password. The BASIC Home page opens.
Recover a forgotten administrator password
If you previously configured password recovery and security questions, you can reset your NETGEAR router admin password through the local login page. From a computer connected to Orbi WiFi, open orbilogin.local or orbilogin.com. Enter incorrect credentials three times to display Router Password Reset. On the Orbi 970 RBE971, NETGEAR’s manual instead says to click Cancel in the login window to reach the serial number prompt.
Enter the router’s serial number and click CONTINUE. Answer your two security questions and click CONTINUE again. The next step replaces your administrator password and security questions. Choose a new administrator password and security questions, click NEXT, then log in with the new password.
If you need help completing recovery, open NETGEAR’s administrator password recovery instructions. If recovery fails, you can factory reset the Orbi and set it up again.
Factory reset when recovery fails
The following reset procedure applies to Orbi devices with the described Power LED behavior; check your model’s manual if its indicator differs. A factory reset erases personalized settings, including your WiFi name and password. With the Orbi powered on, use a paper clip to hold Reset until its Power LED blinks amber.
After the reset, set up the system again using the Orbi app or a browser. Create new administrator credentials during setup, then use them to open your router settings.
Enable access when you are away from home
On compatible home Orbi systems, use Anywhere Access in the Orbi app to manage your router remotely. NETGEAR says it is enabled by default. Your phone must be connected to Orbi WiFi to change its toggle.
While connected locally, open the app and tap the Menu icon at the upper left, then open SETTINGS > Anywhere Access. Turn on Enable Anywhere Access; its background becomes green. Tap the back button to save, after which you can manage the router through the app away from home.
Set up VPN access on Orbi 970
On the Orbi 970 RBE971, the built-in OpenVPN server provides another route to your local router settings from away. Configure DDNS or a static WAN address before setting up the VPN. Your home network and the remote network must use different LAN address ranges.
Log in locally through a browser and select ADVANCED > Advanced > VPN Service. Select Enable VPN Service, then click Apply. Install the OpenVPN client specified by your model’s manual and import the router-generated configuration.
When away from home, connect through the configured VPN client. Then open the router’s LAN address in your browser and sign in with your router administrator credentials.
Open settings on Orbi Pro
For Orbi Pro local administration, including the SXK80, SXK30 and SRK60 families, connect to Orbi Pro WiFi and open orbilogin.com. Enter admin and the configured password. If Insight previously configured the system, use the password for its Insight network location.
For compatible Insight-managed Orbi Pro systems, open Insight and sign in, then select your organization if applicable and your location. Tap your Orbi Pro WiFi System > WiFi Networks, then select a network to open its settings. This app route covers the SRK60, SXK50 and SXK80 families and requires appropriate account access and Insight entitlement.
For remote management of Insight-managed SXK80, SXK30 and SRK60 systems, open the Insight web portal and sign in to the account managing your Orbi Pro. You need an appropriate subscription and account permissions.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you require HTTPS for Orbi router settings?
On the Orbi 970 RBE971, log in through a browser and select ADVANCED > Advanced > Web Services Management. Select Always Use HTTPS to Access Router, then click Apply. Subsequent HTTP requests redirect to HTTPS. This setting controls local administration access.
Why can Orbi’s IP address change in access point mode?
In AP mode, Orbi’s IP address can change if you select Get dynamically from existing router, because the upstream router assigns it. NETGEAR also offers Enable fixed IP settings on this device, which it does not recommend. While connected to the Orbi network, you can use orbilogin.com or orbilogin.net to reach its browser login.
Which OpenVPN client should you download?
Use the client and configuration format specified by your Orbi model’s manual. If it specifies OpenVPN Connect, open the official OpenVPN Connect download page and select your operating system. OpenVPN Connect is offered for Windows, macOS, Android and iOS, but older Orbi Windows instructions can require a different OpenVPN client.
Why might older Remote Management instructions no longer apply?
NETGEAR is removing the older browser-based Remote Management feature through firmware updates on affected home Orbi models. Removal timing depends on the model. NETGEAR directs you to Anywhere Access for remote app management instead.
