Facebook Marketplace login can break even when the rest of Facebook opens normally. The cause is usually the account, the saved session, the browser, the app install, or a Marketplace restriction. Start with the access checks first, then use the device fixes only after you know the account is eligible.

1. Confirm your account can use Marketplace

Marketplace is tied to your Facebook account. Use an adult personal Facebook account that is active and located in a Marketplace-supported country.

If the account is underage, new, inactive, restricted, or outside a supported location, Facebook does not provide a switch that forces Marketplace to appear. Do not use language changes, purchased accounts, or location spoofing. Those are not supported Marketplace fixes.

2. Open Marketplace from the correct place

  1. 1.Open the Facebook app.
  2. 2.Tap Menu.
  3. 3.Tap Marketplace.
  4. 4.If it is not shown, tap See more, then tap Marketplace.

On a browser, go to https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/ and log in with the same Facebook account that should have Marketplace access.

3. Refresh your Facebook session

A stuck session can send Marketplace back to the login screen. On web, click Refresh, close the Facebook tab, then open Facebook again. In the app, close Facebook and reopen it.

Then sign out and back in. In the Facebook app, tap Menu, scroll down, tap Log Out, reopen Facebook, and sign in again. On web, open the account menu, choose Log Out, then log back in.

If the app keeps choosing the wrong saved profile, go to the Facebook login screen, tap the icon in the top right, tap Your Name, tap Remove profile, then sign in manually.

4. Recover the login when password or 2FA blocks access

If the password is the problem, use Facebook's reset flow.

  1. 1.On the login screen, tap Forgot password?.
  2. 2.Enter the account email address, mobile number, full name, or username.
  3. 3.Tap Search.
  4. 4.Follow the reset prompts.

If you cannot log in at all, use a device and browser you have used with Facebook before. Open facebook.com/login/identify, enter your email address or mobile number, and follow the account recovery prompts. If your mobile number is linked to Facebook and you do not have two-factor authentication turned on, you can also text otp to 32665 and log in with the one-time password Facebook texts back.

For two-factor authentication blocks, use Facebook's 2FA troubleshooting flow. Use Approve login attempt, a security-code method already set up, SMS codes, or recovery login codes you generated earlier. The otp text-message password is not an option here, because Facebook does not issue one-time passwords while two-factor authentication is turned on.

5. Clear browser data and try another browser

If Marketplace fails in a browser, clear Facebook cookies and cache first.

  • Chrome desktop: open the Chrome menu, choose Delete browsing data, select Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files, then click Delete data.
  • Edge: open Settings and more, go to Settings, then Privacy, search, and services, then Clear browsing data, then Choose what to clear. Select cookies and cached files, then click Clear now.
  • Safari on iPhone: open Settings, then Apps, then Safari, then Clear History and Website Data. Choose a timeframe and tap Clear History.
  • Safari on Mac: open Safari, then Settings, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data. Select facebook.com, then click Remove — or click Remove All to clear stored data for every site.
  • Firefox: open the menu, choose Settings, then Privacy & Security. Under Cookies and Site Data or Browsing data, clear cookies and cache.

Now open Facebook Marketplace in another current browser and sign in again. If repeated security-code prompts keep appearing, stop using private browsing for normal Facebook login and turn off browser settings that clear cookies or history every time the browser closes.

6. Update or reinstall the Facebook app

On iPhone or iPad, open the App Store, search for Facebook, open the listing, and tap Update. To reinstall it, touch and hold the Facebook app, tap Remove App, then Delete App, then Delete. Reinstall Facebook from the App Store.

On Android, open the Google Play Store, search for Facebook, open the listing, and tap Update. To reinstall it, tap the profile icon in Google Play Store, then Manage apps & devices, then Manage, then Facebook, then Uninstall. Install Facebook again from Google Play.

Android also gives you a faster cache fix. Open Settings, then Apps or Applications, then Facebook, then Storage, then Clear cache. Use Clear storage or Clear data only when you are ready to sign in again, because it removes local app data.

Do not look for an iPhone Facebook cache button. Apple's supported fix is deleting and reinstalling the app.

7. Restart the phone when Facebook freezes

Use a restart when the Facebook app hangs on login, freezes, or stops responding.

On iPhone, the buttons depend on the model. On iPhone X, 11, 12, 13, or later, press and hold either volume button and the side button until the power-off slider appears. On iPhone SE (2nd or 3rd generation), 8, 7, or 6, press and hold the side button. On iPhone SE (1st generation), 5, or earlier, press and hold the top button. Drag the slider, wait 30 seconds, then press and hold that same button until the Apple logo appears. If the iPhone is frozen, press and quickly release Volume Up, press and quickly release Volume Down, then press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.

On Pixel 6 and later, press and hold Power and Volume Up for a few seconds, then choose Restart. On Pixel 5a and earlier, press and hold Power for about 30 seconds, or until the phone restarts.

8. Review restrictions and request help

When Facebook works but Marketplace is missing, limited, or blocked, check Account Status. On web, click your profile picture in the top right, choose Help & support, then Account Status. Review the restrictions shown there.

For Marketplace access that is at risk, limited, suspended, or incorrectly restricted, go to your profile, tap the menu or three-dot control, choose Profile status, then Marketplace under Extra features, then Fix it now, then Request review. Follow the instructions Facebook shows.

If the entire Facebook account is suspended or disabled, log in and follow Facebook's appeal prompts. Personal-account suspensions can be appealed within 180 days. After that window, or after an unsuccessful appeal, the account can be permanently disabled.

If login works and Marketplace still fails, use Facebook's Report a problem option. If you have Meta Verified, use the Meta Verified support surface for chat or email help. Where available, the Help Center or Facebook support area also offers Chat with Meta AI support assistant.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Facebook Lite fix Marketplace login on Android?

Yes. Install Facebook Lite from the official Facebook Lite page or Google Play listing, sign in, and check Marketplace there. Meta describes Facebook Lite as small, fast, and data-saving.

Why does Facebook keep asking for a security code on the same browser?

Facebook says private browsing and browser settings that clear history or cookies can cause repeated security-code prompts. Use a normal browser window and keep Facebook cookies for that browser.

What should I do if my Marketplace problem started after suspicious account activity?

Go to https://www.facebook.com/hacked on a device you have used with Facebook before and follow Facebook's guided recovery flow.

Can business sellers switch accounts in Marketplace?

Some Marketplace sellers can use Facebook Marketplace's account switcher to move between a personal and business account. Meta says this feature is available only to select sellers.
