To delete a calendar on your iPhone, open Calendar, tap Calendars, tap the info button beside the calendar, then tap Delete Calendar twice. For a subscribed calendar, choose Unsubscribe instead. Deleting an iCloud calendar removes its events across devices using that account, so hide it or turn off synchronization if you want to keep its contents.

The short version

  • Delete a calendar: Open Calendar > Calendars, tap its info button, then select Delete Calendar twice.
  • Remove a subscription: Choose Unsubscribe to remove your subscription while leaving the publisher's calendar intact.
  • Keep the events: Deselect a calendar in Calendars to hide its entries without deleting them.
  • Disconnect an account: Turn off calendar synchronization to disconnect its calendars from your iPhone while retaining them in the account.

Delete a calendar in Apple Calendar

Open Calendar and tap Calendars to see your calendar list. Find the calendar you want to remove and tap the info button beside its name. Tap Delete Calendar, then tap Delete Calendar again to confirm.

For an iCloud calendar, deletion removes the calendar and its events across devices using the same account. Choose this option when you want to delete those contents everywhere they synchronize. If you do not see Delete Calendar, check whether the calendar offers Unsubscribe or use its visibility control instead.

Unsubscribe from unwanted or spam calendars

Open Calendar, tap Calendars, and tap the info button beside the subscription. Tap Unsubscribe, then tap Unsubscribe again to confirm. This removes your subscription without deleting the calendar maintained by its publisher.

If a spam subscription offers reporting, tap Unsubscribe and choose Unsubscribe and Report Junk. Remove the subscription when it supplies the unwanted entries, because deleting individual events leaves the subscription intact.

Fix calendars with no delete option

Apple recommends hiding calendars that cannot be removed, such as US Holidays. Open Calendar, tap Calendars, then tap the selected checkmark beside the calendar to deselect it. Its events stop displaying, but its contents remain intact.

You can use the same control for a birthday calendar or another calendar you want to keep. To display its entries again, select it in the calendar list.

The Scheduled Reminders entry displays reminders and cannot be deleted as a calendar. Deselect Scheduled Reminders under Calendars to hide those entries. Your reminders remain in the Reminders app.

Remove account calendars from this iPhone

To disconnect all iCloud calendars on your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then choose iCloud > See All > iCloud Calendar. If your device displays Show All instead of See All, choose that label. Turn off Use on this iPhone.

Respond to any local-data prompt based on whether you want to retain a device copy. This disconnects the calendars without deleting them from iCloud. If you only want to hide one calendar, use its checkmark in the calendar list instead.

For a Google account connected to Apple Calendar, open Settings > Apps > Calendar > Calendar Accounts. Select the Google account and turn off Calendars. Its other enabled services can remain connected.

To remove an entire email account used by Calendar, open Settings > Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts. Select the account, then choose Sign Out or Delete Account, whichever appears. Apple says this removes the account from all iPhone apps using it, although it does not close your account with the provider.

Delete one event without deleting its calendar

Open Calendar and select the event you want to remove. Tap Delete Event, then tap Delete Event again to confirm. The calendar itself remains intact.

For an event from an unknown contact, choose Report Junk, then Delete and Report Junk when those options appear. If unwanted entries belong to a subscribed calendar, remove the subscription to address the calendar supplying them.

Remove calendars in Google Calendar or Outlook

In the Google Calendar iPhone app, open Menu > Settings, select the calendar, and tap Unsubscribe. This works for calendars you do not own. If you own a secondary calendar, use the computer deletion method below or hide it on your phone.

To hide a Google calendar, open Menu and tap the colored box beside the calendar so it becomes unselected. This also works for Birthdays and Holidays. Hiding keeps the calendar and its events intact.

To permanently delete a secondary Google calendar you own, open Google Calendar on a computer. Select the settings gear, choose Settings, and select the calendar. Choose Remove calendar > Delete > Delete permanently. Deletion removes a shared calendar for everyone and synchronizes to connected iPhone apps.

For a shared calendar in Outlook for iPhone, open its Calendar section and tap Menu at the top left. Tap the gear icon beside the calendar, then choose Remove Shared Calendar. This removes the shared calendar from Outlook.

To hide an Outlook calendar while keeping its contents, open the Calendar section and tap Menu at the top left. Tap the currently enabled calendar to disable its display.

Delete an iCloud calendar from another device

On a tablet or computer, sign in to iCloud Calendar. Tap the calendar in the sidebar on a tablet, or hover over it on a Mac. Open the Actions button and choose Delete Calendar.

Deletion removes the calendar's events and synchronizes to iPhones with iCloud Calendar enabled. At least one iCloud calendar must remain. If you want to keep the contents, use the visibility or synchronization controls on your iPhone instead.

Remove or restore the Calendar app

To uninstall Calendar, touch and hold Calendar on the Home Screen, then tap Remove App. Choose Delete App, then Delete. You can use the same general process to delete apps on your iPhone.

From App Library, touch and hold Calendar, then tap Delete App and Delete. Choosing Remove from Home Screen only removes the Home Screen icon. Uninstalling the app is separate from removing a calendar subscription, so use Unsubscribe if that is your goal.

To restore Calendar, open App Store, search for Calendar, select Apple's app, and tap the Redownload button. Open Calendar once it finishes reinstalling. You can also find and reinstall deleted apps through the App Store. Reinstalling Calendar restores the app but does not recover permanently deleted calendar contents.
