To see how much money you've spent on Steam, sign in to Steam's External Funds Used account page and read TotalSpend. You can open it in a desktop or mobile browser without installing Steam.
That figure measures external funds applied to your account, including wallet funding that you may not have spent yet. Use purchase history to check individual purchases or calculate spending for a particular period.
The short version
- Fastest route: Open Steam's External Funds Used account page and read TotalSpend.
- Transaction details: Open Account Details > View purchase history to review individual amounts.
- Wallet caution: Counting both a wallet deposit and purchases paid with that deposit counts the same money twice.
- Library value: A calculator's estimate of your game collection does not represent what you paid.

Open your Steam spending total
Open Steam's spending account page and sign in to the account you want to check. On External Funds Used, find TotalSpend and read the amount beside it. This is the shortest route to the account spending figure.
The same page works in a browser on your computer or phone. When checking multiple accounts, sign in to each separately so you read the right records. You do not need an app for this route.
Find the total through Steam menus
In the desktop client, sign in and open Help > Steam Support. Select My Account > Data Related to Your Steam Account > External Funds Used, then read TotalSpend. Complete an additional sign-in if Steam requests it.
To use the web menus, open the Steam Support website and select Sign in to Steam. Follow My Account > Data Related to Your Steam Account > External Funds Used, then read TotalSpend. From Steam's main website, SUPPORT opens the support site.
If you want the desktop client, open Valve's Steam product page and select Install Steam. For the optional phone app, open Valve's mobile product page and follow the store link for Steam Mobile. Choose that app rather than Steam Link or Steam Chat; you can still use the browser spending page without installing any of them.
Check individual purchases and dates
Open your Steam purchase history and sign in. Review the transaction list, then select an individual purchase to inspect its details. Use these records when you need to identify a charge or calculate spending over a particular period.
Inside the desktop client or Steam Store website, click your account name at the top right and select Account Details > View purchase history. Alternatively, select your Steam Wallet balance at the top right, then choose View purchase history. The displayed balance is remaining credit, not a spending total.
Steam Support offers another route to the same records. Sign in, select Purchases, then choose View complete purchasing history. Select a transaction to inspect its details.
For a month, year, or category total, manually add the relevant transaction amounts. Decide first whether you want to measure purchases or money paid into Steam. Wallet funding and purchases made with that credit can occur in different periods.
Avoid counting wallet money twice
TotalSpend measures external funds applied to your account, so wallet funding can count before you buy anything with it. Treat it as an account funding figure rather than a total spent only on games. For a purchase total, work from the relevant transactions instead.
When adding transactions manually, keep wallet deposits separate from purchases paid with wallet credit. Adding $50 to your wallet and then buying $50 of games with it does not mean you paid $100. Counting both entries as new spending would count the same money twice.
For an external payment total, count money paid into Steam and account for returned payments. For a purchase total, count the relevant purchases without also adding the deposits that funded them. Match refunds to the type of total you are calculating and apply that approach consistently.
Check spending on a Steam Deck
On a Steam Deck running SteamOS, open the STEAM menu and select Power > Switch to Desktop. Open an installed web browser, then use the spending account page or purchase history link above. Sign in to the account whose spending you want to view.
Valve documents the same Desktop Mode approach for Steam Machine. Open External Funds Used for the account figure or purchase history for individual transactions. If you prefer, open those pages on your phone instead.
Match receipts and payment records
To view a receipt, sign in to Steam Support, select Purchases, and open the transaction. Choose I would like to view or print the receipt for this purchase. Use the receipt to check the transaction total or build your own spending record.
For your out of pocket total, review your bank, card, or payment-provider statements. Look for charges identified as Valve Software, Steampowered.com, or Steam Games, then match charges and refunds against Steam purchase history. Add completed charges and subtract returned payments.
Your payment records help account for fees, currency conversion, and purchases spread across multiple payment sources. Use the amounts recorded by each provider when calculating what left those accounts. Statement navigation and labels depend on the provider.
You can also search the email account used for Steam purchases for saved purchase confirmations. Review the transaction amounts and reconcile refund confirmations before adding them. This method covers only the emails you retained, so use receipts or purchase history to fill gaps.
Calculate Community Market spending
Sign in and open the Steam Community Market. Under My Market Activity, select My Market History, then review purchases and sales separately. Add purchases for a purchase total, or subtract sales to calculate net Market spending.
For automatic calculations, install Augmented Steam from its publisher's Firefox Add-ons listing in a compatible Firefox browser. With the extension enabled, sign in and open the Community Market. In Market Transactions, select Load Market Stats if loading has not started automatically.
Wait for loading to finish, then read Purchase total:, Sales total:, and Net spent: or Net gain:. Incomplete loading can leave you with incomplete totals, so do not treat a partial result as your full history. These figures cover Community Market activity rather than all Steam spending; use the manual history route if the extension cannot finish.
Use existing browser shortcuts
If you already use Augmented Steam, sign in to the Steam Store and open your account page through Account Details. Select the extension-added External Funds Used link, then read Steam's TotalSpend. The shortcut opens the same account figure as the direct spending page.
If your library calculator includes How much have I spent on Steam?, follow Steam's official spending page. Sign in to Steam and read TotalSpend there. The calculator's library valuation does not represent your actual spending, so use Steam's figure rather than the estimated collection value.
Export purchase history for a spreadsheet
To export transactions, install Steam History Exporter from its publisher's Firefox Add-ons listing. The listing labels the extension experimental. Open your Steam purchase history while signed in, then click the extension's toolbar icon.
Choose whether to skip kiosk purchases and include the expenses column, then select Export to CSV. Review the exported transaction types before calculating a total, keeping wallet funding separate from purchases paid with that credit. If the extension cannot export your history, use the transaction page and manually add the relevant amounts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why might the Steam spending figure differ from what you paid in your local currency?
Valve converts qualifying purchases to US dollars using the exchange rate at the time of purchase. Converting that figure using today's exchange rate can therefore differ from the original amounts you paid.
Do refunds to your bank and Steam Wallet affect the total the same way?
No. Valve subtracts funds returned to your bank, while refunds returned to your Steam Wallet receive different treatment. A wallet refund leaves the credit within Steam rather than returning it to your payment account.
Does Steam include the price of game keys bought from other sellers?
Steam's spending data excludes third-party key purchases. To calculate everything you paid for games activated on Steam, add those purchases using the sellers' receipts or your payment records.
Should you add all the fields on External Funds Used together?
No, use TotalSpend as the main account spending figure. Adding every other field on the page does not produce a reliable total of money paid.
Does Steam Families show one spending total for the whole family?
Valve's Steam Families guide documents parental controls and child purchase requests, but it does not describe a family-wide spending total. Use each relevant account's records to assemble a combined total.
Do old Enhanced Steam spending tutorials still work?
The original Enhanced Steam extension is deprecated because its developer ended development and took its API servers offline. Use Steam's native account pages or the current Augmented Steam features described above.
