To access your Orbi router settings, connect to its network, open http://orbilogin.com in your browser, and sign in with the username admin and your router administrator password. Use the administrator password you established during setup, with the same capitalization. Click Log In to open the BASIC Home page, then select the settings category you need.

The correct login address depends on your Orbi model and configuration. Some newer routers use orbilogin.local, and you can also reach settings through the router’s actual local IP address.

The short version

  • Connect first: Your phone or computer must be connected to the Orbi network for local browser access.
  • Use administrator credentials: Sign in with admin and the administrator password established during setup.
  • Try the correct address: Your model may use orbilogin.local or a local IP address instead of orbilogin.com.
  • Reset last: A factory reset erases personalized settings, including your WiFi name and password.

Connect to your Orbi network

Connect the phone or computer you want to use to your Orbi WiFi network before opening the login address. For a new or factory-reset system, use the default WiFi network name and password printed on the router’s label.

If WiFi access is unavailable, connect an Ethernet cable from your computer to a LAN port on the Orbi router. Once connected, open its supported login address or actual LAN IP address in a browser and enter your administrator credentials.

Open orbilogin.com and sign in

Open your browser and enter http://orbilogin.com in the address bar. Enter admin as the username, enter your router administrator password, then click Log In. Both credentials are case-sensitive.

When the BASIC Home page opens, select the settings category you need. If your password is rejected, follow the recovery steps below or use the instructions to recover your NETGEAR administrator password.

Choose the address for your Orbi model

NETGEAR directs newer routers to orbilogin.local during setup, while the Orbi 770 and 970 manuals also specify orbilogin.com. For an Orbi 370 system with an RBE371 router, use orbilogin.com on Windows or Android and orbilogin.local on macOS or iOS. Enter the appropriate address while connected to Orbi, then sign in with admin and your configured administrator password.

Another local hostname is orbilogin.net, which NETGEAR lists for systems covered by its Orbi app login instructions. If that hostname does not work on your system, use the router’s actual local IP address.

NETGEAR lists 10.168.168.1 for newer routers and 192.168.1.1 for older routers, with the applicable address depending on model and configuration. If your router uses the older address, you can log in through 192.168.1.1 using the router administrator credentials. If the LAN address was changed, enter that configured address instead of either default.

Complete setup on a new Orbi

For a new or factory-reset consumer Orbi, connect to the default WiFi network using the credentials on the router label. Open the model-appropriate browser login address to begin setup.

Click If you don't have a compatible smartphone, click here, then click Next to enter the setup wizard. Setup establishes the administrator password you will use for later browser logins.

Fix a login page that will not load

When the page fails to open, confirm that your device is connected to the Orbi network and that you are using the address appropriate for your model. Try the router’s actual LAN IP address next. If WiFi access is unavailable, use a computer connected to a router LAN port by Ethernet.

A cached page or browser issue can also prevent access to the local interface. Retry with another browser or device while connected to Orbi, then reopen the correct hostname or IP address.

Clearing the browser cache removes cached pages. For a cached-page failure, clear the cache, then open the correct local login hostname or actual router IP address again.

Recover a forgotten administrator password

For firmware using the newer recovery flow, open orbilogin.com while connected locally and submit incorrect credentials three times. On Router Password Reset, enter the router serial number and click CONTINUE. Enter your case-sensitive security answers and click CONTINUE again.

Setting a new administrator password replaces the previous administrator password. Enter a new password and security questions, click NEXT, then click LOGIN and sign in with the new password.

Some firmware offers a different recovery entry point: click Cancel at the login prompt. With recovery enabled, enter the router serial number and click CONTINUE. Enter the security answers and click CONTINUE again.

Setting a new administrator password replaces the previous administrator password. Enter a new password and security questions, click NEXT, then click LOGIN AGAIN and sign in.

The available recovery flow depends on your firmware, so follow the sequence that matches your router. If recovery cannot restore access, the factory-reset procedure below lets you set the system up again, but it erases personalized settings.

Use the Orbi app locally or away from home

You can manage compatible consumer Orbi systems through the Android or iOS app. Get it through the Apple App Store or Google Play links on the official Orbi app page, connect your phone to Orbi WiFi, and launch the app. Sign in to or create your NETGEAR account, then provide the router administrator credentials when requested.

Your NETGEAR account and router administrator login use separate credentials. Sign in only through NETGEAR’s own app or website, and never share a code, password, or remote access with someone who contacts you. Once signed in, use the app dashboard to access available settings.

On an iPhone or iPad with Local Network privacy controls, open Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network and turn on Orbi. When the app requests that permission, tap Allow. This permission is needed for local app management.

For management away from home, use Anywhere Access on a compatible system. While connected to Orbi WiFi, tap the top-left Menu icon, then open SETTINGS > Anywhere Access. Turn on Enable Anywhere Access, which turns green, then tap the back button to save.

NETGEAR says Anywhere Access is enabled by default; changing its toggle requires a local WiFi connection. Afterward, you can manage supported settings through the app away from home. NETGEAR is removing older browser-based Remote Management through firmware updates on affected routers, including the RBR850/RBK850 family, and directs compatible systems to the app’s Anywhere Access instead.

Connect remotely with OpenVPN on Orbi 370

For an Orbi 370 with an Android VPN client, you can connect back to the home network before opening the router’s LAN IP address. This requires Dynamic DNS (DDNS) enabled on the router, and your home and remote networks must use different LAN subnets.

While connected locally, sign in to the router and open the VPN Service page under the ADVANCED tab. Select Enable VPN Service, then click Apply. Download the Android connection profile using For Smart Phone.

Open the official OpenVPN Connect client page, select Android, and install the application. Import the router-generated .ovpn file into OpenVPN Connect and establish the VPN connection. Then enter Orbi’s LAN IP address in your browser and sign in with the router administrator credentials.

Factory reset only when recovery fails

A factory reset erases personalized settings, including your WiFi name and password. With the Orbi router powered on, use a paper clip to hold the Reset button until its Power LED blinks amber. Set up the system again through the browser or Orbi app afterward.

Use the model-specific reset instructions when your device has different indicators. Wall-plug satellites, for example, use an amber-blinking ring LED. Once setup is complete, use the administrator password you establish during setup for subsequent browser access.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the QR code on an Orbi 770 sign you in automatically?

The WiFi QR code connects your phone to the setup network; it does not provide administrator authentication. During initial setup on an Orbi 770, scan it with the camera on iOS 11 or later or Android 10 or later. Then open orbilogin.com to authenticate or begin setup.

Can the Sync button help you connect before opening orbilogin.com?

On an Orbi 770, press the Sync button, then activate WPS on a compatible client device within two minutes. After the connection is established, open orbilogin.com and enter your router administrator credentials. WPS establishes the network connection and does not bypass administrator login.

How do you require HTTPS for browser access on an Orbi 970?

On an Orbi 970 with an RBE971 router, open https://www.orbilogin.com while connected locally and sign in. Select ADVANCED > Advanced > Web Services Management, select Always Use HTTPS to Access Router, then click Apply. With that setting enabled, HTTP requests redirect to HTTPS.

What if an Orbi 970 access rule blocks a new device?

From an already authorized device, sign in and select ADVANCED > Security > Access Control > View list of allowed devices not currently connected to the network > Add. Enter the other device’s MAC address and name. Click Apply on the Add Allowed Device page, then Apply on the parent page.

Which password should you use for an Orbi Pro configured through Insight?

If your Orbi Pro was configured through Insight, use the password for its Insight network location. Connect to the Orbi Pro network, open orbilogin.com, and sign in as admin. For an Orbi Pro configured without Insight, use its configured administrator password.
