Steam’s Personal Calendar became a full Steam Store feature with Friday’s update, giving players an eight-week calendar of recommendations covering recent releases and games still to come. Players can reach it from the Steam store homepage or open its dedicated page. The feature suggests games by comparing their playing habits with those of other players.
Valve says the recommendations give greater weight to games that account for more of a player’s time. Briefly sampling a game should have little effect, while spending substantial time with a new favorite can influence future suggestions. The system looks for other players with comparable playtime patterns, then factors in what they play or add to their wishlists.
Valve retrains the recommendation system every day, although it says players should expect relatively little movement between consecutive days. New suggestions appear over time as the calendar’s eight-week window advances and developers settle on release dates.
During testing, Valve added filters and display controls covering DLC, games on a player’s wishlist and Early Access titles. Developers can also supply their intended date for moving a game from Early Access to version 1.0, allowing that transition to appear in the calendar. Valve says it also worked on how the feature operates on mobile devices, desktop PCs and devices running SteamOS.
Placement is determined by an algorithm tailored to each user, and Valve says developers cannot buy a spot. The company says the calendar aims to surface both niche and popular releases, while drawing recommendations from different genres to avoid overly narrow suggestions. Across an average 24 hours, players click through to more than 2,000 distinct games using the calendar, according to Valve.
Personal Calendar began testing through Steam Labs in October 2025, with Valve using player and developer feedback to refine it. Its move into the Store follows the October 13 Steam Client update, which put Personal Calendar in the home screen’s Recommended tab in Big Picture Mode. That earlier update also introduced Big Art Mode as a home screen option.
