PEAK has launched on XBOX Series X|S and XBOX on PC, bringing its cooperative mountain climbing to both platforms with crossplay support. Released on October 22, the game includes XBOX Play Anywhere, allowing players to use both the console and PC versions without an additional charge. The release also includes every content update, covering extra biomes, cosmetic additions and gameplay features.

Players can form a scout troop with friends on different platforms, while XBOX Play Anywhere covers access across console and PC. For players who prefer to go alone, PEAK also supports solo play through the island and its mountain.

The setup casts players as nature scouts stranded after their arrival on an island ends in a crash. Reaching rescue requires climbing the mountain at the island’s center, with a route that changes daily. The climb takes players through four biomes, each presenting obstacles that can threaten their survival as they work toward the summit.

Cooperation includes pulling companions onto ledges and setting ropes or climbing spikes to help whoever follows. Players also have to find food around the island and keep their injuries under control as they ascend. Setbacks reduce stamina, making subsequent climbing harder and giving the troop another reason to help struggling members.

PEAK comes from Aggro Crab and Landfall, whose joint collaboration goes by Team PEAK. Aggro Crab is based in Seattle, Washington, and its earlier games include Another Crab’s Treasure and Going Under. Landfall operates from Stockholm, Sweden, and has made games including Content Warning and Haste.

The developers became friends at a conference for game makers in 2022 and later considered building a small project together following the success of Another Crab’s Treasure and Content Warning. They discussed the theme in a Swedish hot tub before traveling to South Korea for a monthlong game jam. PEAK’s original development brought three people from Aggro Crab together with four from Landfall, working out of an apartment they rented for the project.
