DMZ will launch with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on October 23, pairing extraction missions across Hajin with a base players expand through a 70-level progression track. Sony has detailed how players will collect equipment, unlock facilities and choose between three types of deployment. The game is currently available to pre-order for PlayStation 5, with Campaign and Multiplayer also scheduled for launch.
Players can pursue replayable narrative objectives through Story Missions, enter Dynamic Operations for DMZ Cash and XP, or explore Hajin City through Free Roam without selecting a mission. Completing an Operation gives the squad a Supply Drop, with successive completions increasing its rarity.

Between deployments, the Forward Operating Base holds equipment and supports progression, eventually growing to more than a dozen Stations. Its initially accessible facilities include Stash/Loadout, where players store extracted items and equip their next deployment, and Firing Range for testing weapons. DMZ Orders provides Missions through the Orders Tablet, with rewards for finishing those objectives during deployments.
Further progression opens facilities such as Gunsmith, where DMZ Cash buys attachments for recovered weapons and extracted Weapon Manuals enable players to build new weapons. The 3D Printer turns Resources and 3D Printer Ingredients into equipment and also supports station upgrades. Vendor sells weapons and other gear for DMZ Cash, with stock changing daily.
Combat and exploration both contribute to rewards: defeating Lieutenants and Commanders yields XP, weapons and valuable loot, while collecting items improves the deployment’s match rating. Fighting enemies and completing objectives also affect the rating assessed through After Action Report. Sony recommends aiming for S Tier or higher to receive the strongest rewards.
Hajin’s areas have different Threat Levels, and noisy activity can provoke an enemy response that varies by location. Vehicles offer travel by land, water and air, with Gas Station providing repairs and refueling. Sony also says further content will follow in updates after launch.
Earlier details established DMZ’s return with the new Forward Operating Base hub, alongside a launch offering 12 core 6v6 multiplayer maps. Xbox’s earlier advertising also confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 would launch without Game Pass availability.
