Samsung Wallet now lets owners of select Cadillac EVs in the U.S. and Canada use a compatible Galaxy device to lock, unlock and start their vehicles. Initial support covers the 2025-2027 LYRIQ, giving owners of those model years access to Samsung Wallet Digital Key. The 2026-2027 OPTIQ and 2027 VISTIQ are also eligible for the new support.
The initial GM offering is limited to select Cadillac EVs, while Samsung plans to extend support to additional models by the end of 2026. Owners must have a compatible Galaxy device to use Digital Key. For automatic unlocking, owners also need to activate Digital Key on a compatible device before using the approach-based feature.
Automatic unlocking relies on Ultra-Wideband (UWB) together with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to let owners enter as they approach, without having to touch the phone. When an owner walks away, the vehicle can lock automatically through the same Digital Key functionality. Samsung lists Galaxy S25 Edge among the devices compatible with UWB, alongside Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Other UWB-compatible choices include Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra. Samsung also identifies Z-Fold7 and Z TriFold as compatible with UWB for the automatic access functionality. Owners can use the Samsung Wallet app to give another person Digital Key access and configure the permissions attached to that shared key.
Shared access can be revoked remotely through the Samsung Wallet app, allowing an owner to withdraw a previously granted key. If a device is lost or stolen, its Digital Keys can instead be suspended or deleted remotely using Samsung Find on a computer. The keys reside in an embedded Secure Element (eSE), which provides hardware protection for sensitive data.
Samsung Wallet is protected by Samsung Knox, the company's proprietary security platform. Samsung says the Digital Keys meet EAL6+ certification standards against unauthorized access, including evaluation of resistance to side-channel attacks and other advanced attacks. That certification also requires broader testing and verification of security functions, while Samsung Wallet separately supports IDs, memberships and payment cards accessible through a swipe gesture on compatible mobile devices.
