Elon Musk told SpaceX employees that artificial intelligence will soon become the company's biggest revenue source, overtaking every other product line within weeks. During a 30-minute all-hands meeting posted on X, Musk said AI revenue would exceed all other SpaceX revenue by next month, likely in September.
Musk framed the shift as certain rather than speculative, stating that AI revenue "definitely" would surpass the company's other offerings and then significantly exceed all other SpaceX revenue in the fourth quarter. The comments position AI as what Musk called an "extremely important part of SpaceX's future," with the executive predicting the segment will pass everything else the company sells within the month.
The revenue projection centers on Grok, SpaceX's family of large language models. Musk said the company plans to train Grok on the sum total of all SpaceX information, telling employees the AI would be "trained on you" and that workers would serve as "the parents of the AI" by passing on their thoughts, ideas, and beliefs.
He did not provide details on how that employee data training would work.
SpaceX's other commercial offerings include its Falcon 9 and Starship launch vehicles, Crew Dragon and Cargo Dragon spacecraft, and the Starlink satellite network. The company went public in June, rebranded as SpaceXAI after acquiring xAI, and has been expanding its AI footprint with plans to launch data centers into space and plans to build compute exclusively with Nvidia's Vera Rubin architecture.
