Fresh images out of China suggest the iPhone 18 Pro Max will ship with a significantly larger battery than earlier leaks indicated, with the eSIM-only model reportedly reaching 5,567 mAh. Three photos purportedly showing the phone's actual battery surfaced, and one clearly displays a 5,391 mAh capacity for the physical SIM variant, according to GSMArena.
The new figures revise an early-July report that put the iPhone 18 Pro Max at 5,425 mAh for the eSIM model and 5,235 mAh for the physical SIM version. The leaked images now suggest those numbers were conservative, with the larger capacity pointing to one of the biggest batteries ever fitted to an iPhone.
The jump is substantial compared with last year's hardware. The iPhone 17 Pro Max reportedly used a 4,823 mAh battery in SIM models and a 5,088 mAh cell in eSIM-only versions, making the new eSIM figure a notable increase over its predecessor.
The smaller iPhone 18 Pro looks far less dramatic. The same leak claims it will carry a 4,288 mAh battery in its eSIM-only version and a 4,056 mAh cell in the physical SIM model, per Digital Trends.
Those are minor bumps compared with the iPhone 17 Pro.
The iPhone 18 Pro Max is launching next month alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and the rumored foldable iPhone Ultra. The battery figures first surfaced through China's 3C certification database via tipster Digital Chat Station, and the latest images appear to corroborate those regulatory filings.
Apple does not typically publish raw battery capacities in official spec sheets, so final confirmation will likely come from teardowns after launch. Until then, the leaked images and certification listings remain the strongest evidence of what the next Pro Max will pack inside.
