Google's Googlebook laptops are official, and the headline number is $899. Every machine ships with Gemini features included as standard, the company says. The company is also throwing in 12 months of Google AI Pro, which carries 5TB of cloud storage and access to Gemini Advanced tools. Pre-orders are open now at select retailers, including the Google Store and Best Buy.
Hardware reaches U.S. shelves October 4. Canada, the U.K., Ireland, France, Germany, and Australia get the laptops a day later, on October 5. Google says the Googlebook OS will receive feature drops and updates for up to 10 years, a commitment that matters to anyone who keeps a laptop past its warranty.

The standout software is Rambler, a dictation tool that cleans up stutters, mistakes, and filler words as you talk. It turns spoken notes into bulleted action items and drops in relevant emoji. Rambler also handles multiple languages, letting users switch mid-sentence without changing a setting. Create My Widget works differently: instead of coding, users describe the widget they want and it gets built.
Developers get Google Antigravity on every Googlebook, which can write apps and deploy them straight to the machine. There is a full Linux terminal environment as well, and it runs Claude Code and the Antigravity CLI. Gemini's other features include task automations, Gemini Live, and proactive suggestions drawn from what is on screen. Gemini Spark keeps processing requests even with the laptop closed.
The bundle extends past AI Pro. Buyers also get three months of YouTube Premium and three months of Adobe Photoshop.
Googlebook is not a Chromebook successor in name only. It replaces the Chromebook line and runs on Android rather than ChromeOS, and it was previewed as the first laptops designed from the ground up for Gemini Intelligence. Earlier coverage noted hardware partners including Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, with Samsung absent from the initial lineup. Google is not building the hardware itself.
Two features from that earlier reporting carry over: Magic Pointer, which turns the cursor into a Gemini trigger, and Cast My Apps, which mirrors phone apps onto the laptop. Rambler and Create My Widget both appeared first in Google's Gemini Intelligence suite, where Rambler was a Gboard dictation tool and Create My Widget generated Android home screen widgets. That suite was scheduled to roll out first on Pixel 10 phones and the Galaxy S26, with laptops slated to follow later in the year.
Google has not said what the Googlebook means for existing Chromebook owners beyond a statement that the older machines "will continue to receive support through their device's existing date commitment, and many Chromebooks will be eligible to transition to the new experience". The company also has not disclosed full specifications for the launch models.
