Unlike a post or photo
Open the post or photo you previously liked. On Facebook.com, click Like to remove your like. In the Android, iPhone or iPad app, or in a mobile browser, tap Like instead.
Unlike a comment
Find the comment you previously liked and locate the Like control attached to that comment. Click Like on desktop, or tap Like in the Android, iPhone or iPad app, mobile browser or Facebook Lite. If you added a different reaction, select that reaction using the steps below.
Unlike a Facebook Page
On a computer, open the Page you previously liked and click Liked. This applies to Pages displaying that control. In Facebook Lite, open the Page and tap Liked.
In the Facebook Android, iPhone or iPad app, open the Page and tap Liked, then tap Unlike. Follow the same two steps in a mobile browser.
Remove a different reaction
On Facebook.com, open the post or comment and click your currently selected reaction to remove it. In the Android app, open the item and tap your currently selected reaction. A long press opens the reaction picker for changing a reaction, so use a tap when you want to remove it.
Find older likes on a computer
Click your profile picture, then open Settings & Privacy > Activity Log. Select the activity category you want to review. Use Date or Activity Type to narrow the results until you find the like or reaction.
Beside the matching entry, click Options. Select Unlike for a like or Remove Reaction for another reaction. Repeat these steps for each entry you want to remove.
When you remember roughly when you liked something, another search route is Activity history > Date > Year. Choose the year and, optionally, a month, then click Save Changes. Find the matching entry, click Options, then select Unlike or Remove Reaction.
Find older likes on Android or iPhone
In the Android app, tap Menu. In the iPhone app, tap Menu, then tap your name. Meta places Menu at the top left in its current instructions; if an older tutorial points elsewhere, find the labeled control in your app. On either platform, tap Options below your profile picture and open Activity Log. Select the activity you want to review.
Tap Filters and narrow the entries with the available Categories, Date or People filters. Once you locate the entry, tap its Options control. Choose Unlike or Remove Reaction, as appropriate.
Use keyboard shortcuts to unlike a Feed post
Sign in to Facebook.com on a computer and make sure single-character shortcuts are enabled. To check the setting, click your profile picture and open Display & Accessibility > Keyboard > Use Single-Character Keyboard Shortcuts.
Move keyboard focus outside text boxes, then press J or K to select the previously liked Feed story. Press L to unlike it. Press ? while in Feed to display the shortcut list.
Fix missing controls and shortcuts that do not respond
If a Page shows only Follow or Following, it has no Liked control to select. Meta says Pages that previously had a Like button may now only have a Follow button. If you previously liked and followed such a Page, you are still following it; if you liked it without following it, your connection with that Page was removed.
If the activity categories do not match an older tutorial, start with the categories displayed in your own Activity Log. On desktop, narrow your search with Date or Activity Type. On Android or iPhone, select the activity and use the available Filters.
If pressing L does not work, check that shortcuts are enabled and move focus outside any text box. Shortcut behavior depends on your browser and keyboard focus, and shortcuts may not work inside video players or video calls. You can also return to the previously liked post and click Like to remove the like directly.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you remove likes from Facebook Reels and videos?
Meta says the reactions you leave on reels, including likes, appear in your Activity Log. In the Android or iPhone app, find the matching entry, open Options, then choose Unlike or Remove Reaction, as appropriate.
Where can you find liked Reels and videos on Android?
In the Android app, open Menu > Reels > Liked to find liked videos. To remove a like or reaction, find its matching entry in Activity Log.
Can you unlike something through a Facebook button on another website?
The external Facebook Like-button plugin has been discontinued. That change concerns buttons embedded on other websites, rather than Facebook’s native post and Page controls.
How do Facebook keyboard shortcuts work with JAWS?
With JAWS, press Insert + 3 or Caps Lock + 3 before pressing the Facebook shortcut key. For a selected, previously liked Feed story, press L to unlike it.
Does hiding reaction counts remove your likes?
Changing reaction-count visibility does not remove your like. Hiding content is also separate from removing the like or reaction you added.
Do you need to install anything to unlike Facebook content?
You do not need an additional tool or download. Use Facebook.com, a mobile browser or the Facebook app you already have, following the steps for that platform.
