Screen recording on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 is a fast way to capture tutorials, video calls, or gameplay directly from the main display. The built-in recorder works reliably once you know where to find it, but there are a few Z Flip 7 specific tricks worth knowing.

Open the Screen Recorder

Swipe down twice from the top of the screen to open the full Quick Settings panel. Look for the Screen recorder tile. If you don’t see it, tap the + icon (or the edit pencil) and drag it into the active tiles.

Tap the Screen recorder tile. A popup appears asking you to choose your audio source before recording starts.

Choose Your Audio Settings

You have three options: No sound (silent capture), Media sounds (records app audio like game sounds or music), and Media sounds and mic (captures both device audio and your voice). Pick the one that fits, then tap Start recording.

A three‑second countdown gives you time to get to the app or screen you want to record.

Record in Flex Mode for Hands‑Free Recording

If you’re recording a tutorial or a video call, try using Flex Mode. Fold the Z Flip 7 halfway so it stands on its own. The screen recorder still works, and the phone stays propped up without you holding it. This is great for cooking videos or walkthroughs where you need free hands.

Draw or Annotate While Recording

Tap the pencil icon in the floating toolbar to draw directly on your screen during recording. You can change colors and line thickness. This is useful for highlighting specific parts of the screen for tutorials or demos.

Stop and Save Your Recording

Tap the stop button (square icon) in the floating toolbar, or pull down the notification shade and tap the screen recorder notification. The video saves automatically to your Gallery in the Screen recordings album.

Edit Your Recording

Open the screen recording in Gallery, then tap the Edit (pencil) icon. You can trim the start and end, change playback speed, add background music, or apply filters. The Z Flip 7’s powerful processor handles editing without lag.

Tweak the Screen Recorder Settings

Go to Settings > Advanced features > Screenshots and screen recordings. From here you can adjust video quality (1080p, 720p, or 480p), toggle tap feedback (useful for tutorials), and set the front camera size if you use it while recording.

You can also enable the self‑view camera overlay during recording if you want to show the front camera feed in a small window.

What You Cannot Record

DRM‑protected content from apps like Netflix, Disney+, and Amazon Prime will display a black screen. Banking and payment apps also block recording for security. Regular apps, games, browsers, and your own camera footage work without issues.

If the Screen Recorder Freezes or Won’t Start

Try a soft reset. Press and hold Volume Down + the Side key for 10 15 seconds until the phone vibrates and restarts. This clears minor software glitches that can prevent the screen recorder tile from responding.

If the recorder stops mid‑capture, check that you have enough free storage space in Settings > Device care > Storage. A full storage can cause the recorder to abruptly stop.
