To reset a Verizon router, sign into its local administration interface and use the factory reset controls for your model. A full factory reset removes customized settings. Several models also offer an option that keeps your Wi-Fi network names and passwords while resetting other settings.

The short version

  • Match your model: Verizon routers use different reset menus and confirmation buttons.
  • Choose what to reset: A full factory reset removes customized settings, while supported interfaces offer a separate option to retain network names and passwords.
  • Use the correct interface: G3100 and G1100 routers have different paths from CR1000A and CR1000B routers.
  • Restart through an app: Supported accounts can restart their equipment through Verizon Home or the app named My Verizon.

Choose which settings to reset

Decide between a complete reset and the option to retain your Wi-Fi credentials before selecting a reset control. On supported interfaces, Default Settings except current user settings retains SSIDs, meaning network names, and passwords while resetting other settings. A complete reset uses Default Settings or a factory default control, depending on the router.

The preservation option appears in the browser procedures below for CR1000A, CR1000B, CHR30A, G3100 and G1100 equipment. It also appears in the specified ASK and WNC gateway interfaces. Follow the procedure for your model and the controls your screen displays.

Connect and open the router settings

Connect to the router before signing into its local administration interface. For the Fios G3100, open 192.168.1.1 in your browser and sign in with the router’s administrator credentials. If you need help with that address, follow the steps to log in to 192.168.1.1 admin.

For the other models below, start by signing into the device’s local administration interface, then follow its specific menu path. Sign into your Verizon account only through Verizon’s own app or website, and never share a code, password, or remote access with someone who contacts you.

Restart through a Verizon app

For a restart, supported Fios, 5G Home and existing LTE Home accounts can use Verizon Home. Get the app through the store links on the official Verizon Home app page, then sign into your home internet account. On the Home Screen, find Quick actions and tap Restart router when that control is available for your account.

For 5G Internet Gateway devices displaying the Connections and Equipment layout, open Verizon Home and tap Equipment under Connections. Tap Restart gateway, tap Restart gateway again, then tap Restart gateway to confirm. Allow up to 10 minutes for completion.

For 5G Home Internet devices managed in the app named My Verizon, open My Verizon and tap Home, then 5G Home if needed. Under Home device, select your router and open Wi-Fi networks > Settings. On Account and router settings, tap Restart, then tap Restart again to confirm.

You can also restart a 5G Home Internet router through the website named My Verizon using an Account Owner or Manager login. Open My Verizon, sign in, select 5G Home, then select the router under Home devices and choose Manage device. Under Router quick actions, select Restart, review the message and select Restart again. Once startup finishes, select Done.
