To factory reset a Spectrum WiFi 6, WiFi 6E, WiFi 7, or Invincible WiFi router, keep it powered on, hold its reset control for more than 15 seconds, then release it. This removes personalized settings, including your custom WiFi name and password, so identify your model and read its label before starting.
If you only want to restart your connection, use the shorter button hold for your model, My Spectrum App, or Spectrum.net. A restart preserves your settings, while a factory reset means reconnecting with the default credentials on the router label.
The short version
- Identify the model: Read the router label before choosing a button location or hold time.
- Keep your settings: Use a restart when you want to reboot without removing your configuration.
- Erase your settings: Follow the factory reset timing for your exact router model.
- Reconnect afterward: Use the network name and password on the router label after a factory reset.

Factory reset your router with its button
Match the model number on your router to the table before pressing its reset control. Make sure you can read the default network name and password on the label, because you will need them after the reset.
On Spectrum WiFi 6 models SAX1V1R, SAX1V1K, and SAX1V1S, keep the router powered on and hold the side-panel Reset button for 15 seconds or more, then release it. On WiFi 6E models SAX2V1S and SAX2V1R, keep the router powered on and hold the back-panel Reset button for more than 15 seconds, then release it.
For WiFi 7 models SBE1V1K and SBE1V1R, hold the back-panel Reset button for more than 15 seconds, then release it. Use the same timing for the back-panel Reset button on the CBE1V1K Invincible WiFi router, keeping either router powered throughout the reset.
The wall mounted MAX2V1K uses a control labeled Power & Factory reset. With the router powered, hold that control for more than 15 seconds, then release it to remove your personalized configuration.
After the router finishes starting, reconnect using the network name and password on its label. To personalize the network again, you can change your WiFi router password through your router’s supported controls.
Restart with a shorter button hold
Use a restart when you want to reboot the router while keeping your personalized configuration. The same physical control handles both operations, so release it within your model’s restart range.
On the listed WiFi 6 routers, hold the side-panel Reset button for 4 to 14 seconds, then release it. On the listed WiFi 6E routers, hold the back-panel Reset button for 4 to 14 seconds, then release it.
On the listed WiFi 7 routers and the CBE1V1K Invincible WiFi router, hold the back-panel Reset button for 5 to 14 seconds, then release it. For MAX2V1K, hold Power & Factory reset for more than 5 seconds but less than 15 seconds, then release it.
Restart through the app or your account
To use your phone, open Spectrum’s official app page, choose the store link for your device, and install My Spectrum. Sign in with your Spectrum credentials, open Services, and select your router or equipment. Choose Restart Equipment and follow the on-screen prompts.
Follow the restart control shown in your equipment details, keeping in mind that these troubleshooting actions restart equipment without performing a factory reset.
From a browser, sign in to Spectrum.net and open Your Services > Internet. Select your equipment and choose Troubleshoot if its status is Connection Issue. Select Restart Equipment, then select Restart Equipment again to confirm.
If you start from Spectrum’s outage troubleshooting page, its Reset it button opens the account troubleshooting controls. Some equipment requires a manual restart, so use its physical button or the appropriate power cycle if no restart control appears. For CBE1V1K, use its physical instructions.
Find the app factory reset option
Spectrum offers a factory reset control in My Spectrum App for supported Advanced WiFi equipment. Open Services in the app and go to the advanced settings for your WiFi network.
If a factory reset option appears, follow its prompts to remove your personalized settings. Do not treat Restart Equipment as a substitute, because it restarts equipment without performing a factory reset. If the factory reset option is absent or unclear, use the physical procedure for your model or contact Spectrum.
Power cycle a cable modem and router
For a Spectrum cable installation, disconnect the modem’s power and remove its backup battery when applicable. Disconnect router power too; with a combined gateway, skip the separate router step.
Wait 30 seconds, reinstall the modem battery when applicable, and reconnect modem power. Allow two minutes for steady connection lights. Reconnect the separate router and wait another two minutes, then test your connection; with a combined gateway, test after its connection lights are steady.
Spectrum excludes fiber equipment from this generic power cycle procedure. If you have Invincible WiFi and it remains on backup after primary service returns, use the battery procedure below.
Return Invincible WiFi to its primary connection
When primary service has returned but Invincible WiFi remains on cellular backup, disconnect the modem power cord and the battery connection from the router. Leave both disconnected for at least 60 seconds. You can also use this procedure when the router shows a solid white light without an outage.
Reconnect the modem and wait for a solid blue LED, then reconnect the battery to the router. The router light changes from solid white to solid blue when its primary connection resumes.
Reconnect Spectrum WiFi Extenders
If a single Spectrum WiFi Extender needs restarting, disconnect it from its outlet for at least 30 seconds. Reconnect it and wait at least two minutes for its LED to stop blinking.
To restart an extender through My Spectrum App, sign in and open Services & Equipment. Select the extender under Internet, choose Restart Equipment, then select Restart Extender. This restarts the selected extender, leaving the router itself out of that restart.
When all Spectrum extenders are disconnected, disconnect modem and router power. Reconnect the modem and let it finish starting, then reconnect router power. Disconnect Ethernet cables attached to the router for at least 30 seconds, reconnect them, and allow at least two minutes for extender LEDs to settle.
Get help when your model or controls differ
Current Spectrum Advanced WiFi routers use Spectrum.net and My Spectrum App for management instead of the local browser controls found on older Wave 2 models. Do not apply another model’s button timing to your router. If your model is missing from the table or its reset does not complete, get instructions for that exact equipment from Spectrum.
Sign in to Spectrum.net and select Chat With Us; the chat landing page also offers Chat Now. In My Spectrum App, sign in, open the support section, and select Chat With Us. Ask for help restarting or factory resetting your router.
You can also call (833) 267-6094 and follow the representative’s instructions for your equipment. Support can troubleshoot and help you choose the right procedure for your equipment.
