A saved login fills the wrong account, Chrome keeps suggesting an old address, or your browser stops asking to save passwords. Those problems usually come from one of three places: the password manager, the autofill settings, or the sync provider behind them. Use the current browser paths below to view saved passwords, control autofill, clean up stale entries, and avoid retired Microsoft settings.
1. Open your saved passwords first
This fixes the basic job: view, edit, delete, or export a saved login from the current password manager.
In Chrome desktop, open More > Passwords and autofill > Google Password Manager. Select Passwords, choose a saved item, then use Show password, Edit, or Delete.
To export from Chrome desktop, open Settings > Export Passwords > Download file.
In Microsoft Edge desktop, open Settings and more > Settings > Passwords and autofill > Microsoft Password Manager, select the right arrow next to a password, then use the eye icon to view it or Edit > Save to change it.
In Firefox desktop, open Firefox menu > Passwords. The about:logins page opens for saved entries, and Manage saved passwords takes you to the same saved-login area.
On a Mac with macOS 15 or later, open the Passwords app and choose All or a category.
In Safari on macOS Sonoma or earlier, open Safari > Settings > Passwords, sign in with Touch ID or your user account password, select the website, then use Show Details, Edit, Save, Delete Password, or Delete Passkey.
On iPhone or iPad with iOS 18 or later, open Passwords, unlock with Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode, choose a category or Shared Group, select a website or app, then tap Edit, Change Password, or Delete.
On iOS 17 or earlier, use Settings > Passwords.
2. Control password prompts and automatic sign in
In Chrome desktop, open More > Passwords and autofill > Google Password Manager > Settings, then use Offer to save passwords and passkeys. Use Sign in automatically in the same Settings area to control automatic sign-in.
In Chrome Android, open More > Settings > Google Password Manager. Use Settings for Auto sign-in and saved-password options.
In Firefox desktop, open Firefox menu > Passwords > Firefox logins menu > Preferences or Options > Passwords and autofill. Turn Ask to save passwords on or off; keep it checked when you want Save and autofill usernames and passwords or Fill usernames and passwords automatically.
In Firefox Android, open the three-dot menu > Settings > Logins and passwords or Passwords > Save passwords, then choose Ask to save or Never save.
In Firefox iOS, open the menu button > Settings > Autofills & Passwords > Save Passwords.
When Chrome stopped asking for one website, remove it from Google Password Manager > Settings > Declined sites and apps.
3. Turn browser passwords on for your phone
This fixes passwords that exist in the browser but do not appear on mobile login screens or inside other apps.
In Chrome Android, open More > Settings > Google Password Manager. Saved-password entries let you view, edit, delete, or add passwords.
In Chrome for iPhone or iPad, open More > Password Manager > Settings > Passwords in Other Apps > Open Settings > General > AutoFill & Passwords > AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys > Chrome.
On iOS or iPadOS 18.2 and up, use Default Apps > Passwords & Codes > AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys > Chrome.
For Google Password Manager at the iPhone or iPad system level, open Settings > General > AutoFill & Passwords > AutoFill Passwords & Passkeys, then under Autofill from turn on Google Chrome and Google.
In Edge mobile, open the menu icon > Settings > Passwords to access saved passwords in the app.
For Edge on iPhone or iPad autofill, download Microsoft Edge, sign in with your Microsoft account, then open iPhone Settings > General > Autofill & Passwords and under Autofill from select Edge.
For Edge on Android autofill, download Microsoft Edge, sign in with your Microsoft account, open device Settings and search for Autofill, then use Preferred service > Change > Edge. Open Edge and sign in to start autofilling.
In Firefox Android, open the three-dot menu > Settings > Logins and passwords or Passwords, then use Autofill in Firefox or Autofill other apps.
In Firefox iOS, go to a login page, tap the login field, choose Use a saved password, choose the credential card, then select the credential. Use Manage passwords from the credential selection card to manage entries.
On iPhone or iPad, open Settings > General > AutoFill & Passwords > AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys to turn Password AutoFill on or off.
4. Manage addresses cards and form autofill
In Chrome desktop, open More > Settings > Autofill and passwords > Payment methods or Addresses and more. Turn Save and fill payment methods or Save and fill addresses on or off, and add, edit, or delete entries in that section.
In Chrome desktop, open More > Settings > Autofill and passwords > Autofill settings, then use Enhanced autofill or Verify it’s you when filling sensitive info.
In Chrome Android, open More > Settings > Passwords and Autofill > Payment methods or Addresses and more, then use Add card, Add address, Edit, or Delete.
In Chrome on iPhone or iPad, open More > Settings > Payment methods or Addresses and more.
In Edge desktop, open Settings and more > Settings > Profiles > Personal info > Save and fill basic info, then use Automatically fill my info on sign up forms or Add address. Microsoft says this is not available on all websites.
In Safari on Mac, open Safari > Settings > AutoFill, then select or deselect Using information from my contacts, User names and passwords, Credit cards, or Other forms. Use Edit next to a category to view or edit saved information.
In Safari on iPhone, open Settings > Apps > Safari > AutoFill > Use Contact Info, then set My Info to choose your contact card. In Safari forms, tap a blank field and use AutoFill Contact.
5. Delete old Chrome form suggestions
When Chrome keeps suggesting stale form entries, clear them from More > Delete browsing data, choose a time range, open Advanced, select Autofill form data, and delete it.
On iPhone or iPad, use More > Delete Browsing Data, choose a time range, open Advanced, select Autofill form data, then use Delete Browsing Data.
This removes saved form autofill data, not saved passwords.
6. Check password safety and passkey options
This fixes the risky part of convenience: weak passwords, compromised passwords, and passwordless sign-in controls.
In Chrome desktop, open More > Passwords and autofill > Google Password Manager > Checkup.
In Edge desktop, open Settings and more > Settings > Passwords and autofill > Microsoft Password Manager > Password security check, or enter edge://settings/autofill/passwords/checkup in the address bar.
In Edge desktop, open Microsoft Password Manager > More settings and use Suggest strong passwords when Ask to save passwords and passkeys is on.
In Edge desktop, open Settings > Passwords and autofill > Microsoft Password Manager > More settings > Automatically upgrade to passkeys.
In Firefox desktop on a supported website, click the username or password field, choose Use a Passkey, choose an authentication method, then use Next on Windows or Continue on macOS and follow the onscreen instructions.
On a Mac with Touch ID support, open Apple menu > System Settings > Touch ID & Password > Use Touch ID for autofilling passwords.
7. Spot work or school browser controls
On a work or school Chrome profile, check More > Passwords and autofill > Google Password Manager; in Edge, check Settings and more > Settings > Passwords and autofill.
Chrome and Edge settings for the password manager, address autofill, and credit card autofill can be controlled by an organization.
Grayed-out controls belong to the administrator who manages that device or profile.
8. Move passwords between browsers and devices
To export from Chrome desktop, open More > Passwords and autofill > Google Password Manager > Settings > Export Passwords > Download file.
To export from Edge desktop, open More or press Alt+F, then choose Passwords > More > Export passwords > Export. Microsoft says exporting saved passwords is not possible from Edge for Android or iOS.
To import passwords into Edge, open Settings and more > Settings > Profiles > Import browser data. For a CSV file, use Other import locations > Import next to Import passwords now > Import from > Passwords CSV file > Choose file > Open.
To sync Edge, sign in to a Microsoft account and use desktop More options > Settings > Profiles > Sync, or mobile More options > Settings > profile image > Sync > Done. Use the toggles for the data types you want to sync.
To sync Apple passwords, open Settings or System Settings > [your name] > iCloud > Passwords, then turn on Sync this iPhone, Sync this iPad, or Sync this Mac. On iOS 17 or macOS Sonoma and earlier, that iCloud entry still reads Passwords and Keychain.
To autofill Apple passwords on Windows, set up iCloud Passwords in iCloud for Windows. In Chrome, Edge, or Firefox, click the iCloud Passwords toolbar button, enter the six-digit verification code, then choose the account from the username field or the toolbar button.
Skip old Microsoft paths that send you to Wallet, Microsoft Authenticator Autofill, or the Microsoft Autofill Chrome Extension.
Edge Wallet entry points are retired, Authenticator Autofill was discontinued in mid-August 2025, and the Microsoft Autofill Chrome Extension retired on December 14, 2024; use the current Edge Passwords and autofill area instead.
