To find your WhatsApp phone number, open WhatsApp’s Settings and tap your name or profile picture to read the number registered to your account. On Android, reach Settings through the three-dot menu; on iPhone, start with Settings, your profile-picture tab, or You, depending on your interface.

The short version

  • Android: Open Chats, tap More options > Settings, then tap your profile.
  • iPhone: Tap Settings, your profile-picture tab, or You, then open your profile.
  • Another route: Open Chats > New chat and find your own name or phone number.

Find your number on Android

Open WhatsApp and go to Chats. Tap More options, the three vertical dots, then select Settings. Tap your name or profile picture at the top and read the phone number on your profile.

If you have multiple WhatsApp accounts, inspect the profile of each intended account separately. Make sure you read the number for the account you want to identify. If you cannot open that account, check an existing saved login or ask someone who already has your number saved.

Check your profile on iPhone

Open WhatsApp, tap Settings or your profile-picture tab, then tap your profile at the top. On the redesigned interface, tap You, then tap your profile. Read the phone number shown on that profile.

The starting tab varies with WhatsApp’s interface rollout, so follow the label on your iPhone. You only need to read the number, without editing your profile or starting a number change.

Find your own entry in a new chat

On Android, iPhone, WhatsApp Web, Windows, or Mac, open Chats and select New chat. Locate your own entry, identified by your name or phone number. If it displays your number, read it directly from the entry.

When the entry shows your name instead, open the self-chat and tap or click its header to inspect your contact details. If you cannot find the number there, use your mobile profile or ask an existing saved contact.

Ask someone who already has your number saved

Ask someone who already has your phone number saved to open their WhatsApp conversation with you. Have them tap or click your name at the top, then read the phone number in your contact information. They can do this on mobile, Web, or desktop.

Existing saved contacts can still see your phone number when you use a username. Choose someone who has your number saved, because a person who knows only your username may be unable to retrieve it.

Read an existing Android saved login

If your Android account is already logged out with its login details retained, open WhatsApp and look at the login screen. Read the phone number alongside the saved profile photo and name. You can check it without signing back in.

This route applies where WhatsApp’s primary-device Log out feature and retained login are available. It does not apply to a fresh installation or an account removed from the device, so use it only when that saved login already exists.

If you need to obtain the app, open WhatsApp’s official download page and choose the appropriate platform. Installation or reinstallation alone does not reveal an existing account’s forgotten number.

Find a WhatsApp contact link you previously created or published in a message, browser bookmark, website, or business materials. In a number-based link such as https://wa.me/15551234567, read the digits after wa.me/ and before any question mark. Those digits represent the international phone number.

Confirm that the link still belongs to your current account before relying on it. An older link may point to a number you previously used. Username links and opaque business short links do not expose a phone number in this way.

Check phone settings when the cellular line matches

Your phone’s system settings may show a candidate number, but they do not establish which number WhatsApp uses. Treat the result as your WhatsApp number only when you know that line is registered to the account. If you are uncertain, use your WhatsApp profile or ask an existing saved contact.

On an iPhone with the current interface, open the phone’s Settings app and select Apps > Phone, then find My Number. Read the displayed cellular number and use it only if you know it is the line registered to WhatsApp.

On a Samsung Galaxy phone, open Settings > About phone and read the phone number. Some models use About device, and older devices can place it under Status. The number depends on SIM or carrier information and may be missing or shown as unknown.

On Google Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Pixel 10 Pro XL, open Settings > About phone. Read Phone number 1 or Phone number 2. Identify which line, if either, you registered with WhatsApp before using it as your account number.

Find a WhatsApp business number

On an iPhone using the current WhatsApp Business profile interface, open WhatsApp Business and tap Tools > Profile. Read the business phone number and leave the editing controls unchanged. Business profile changes are rolling out, so this path applies when your interface shows those controls.

If your business account is already linked to WhatsApp Web, click the storefront icon, then open Business profile. Inspect the business phone-number field. WhatsApp directs phone-number edits to the mobile app, but you only need to read the field for this lookup.

For a WhatsApp Business Platform account, open WhatsApp Manager with an account authorized to manage the business. Click Phone number in the left menu, then read the listed number or select it to open its details. This administrative route does not provide a lookup for an ordinary personal WhatsApp account.

If you access the business’s WhatsApp Business Platform asset through Meta Business Suite, open it with an account that has the required permissions. Click WhatsApp Accounts in the left menu and select the relevant account or displayed phone number. Open Phone numbers to inspect the account’s numbers.

Request an account report through WhatsApp Web

If you have an already linked WhatsApp Web session, you can request an account-information report as a slower fallback. Open Settings > Account > Request account info, then click Request account info. The report takes approximately three days to become ready.

Return to the same page and click Download report, followed by Export report. Confirm Export report, then extract the downloaded ZIP. Inspect the account details in its HTML or JSON report for your phone number.

WhatsApp excludes the Windows and Mac apps from account-information requests. Use your linked browser session for these steps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does changing my SIM card change my WhatsApp number?

No, changing SIM cards does not automatically change your WhatsApp number. Your account remains registered to the verified phone number, regardless of the current SIM or SIM slot.

Can scanning my WhatsApp QR code reveal my number?

Not reliably, because WhatsApp QR codes can contain usernames. Scanning or decoding one therefore cannot always recover your phone number.

Can I request account information from my phone?

Yes, WhatsApp also supports account-information requests on your primary mobile device. The browser workflow is another option when you already have a linked WhatsApp Web session.

Can my carrier bill or SIM packaging confirm my WhatsApp number?

Your carrier bill or SIM packaging can help you recover a candidate cellular number. Neither establishes which number is registered to your WhatsApp account.
